The residual SYNTAX score (rSS) is employed for the quantification of residual coronary lesions and to guide revascularization. rSS can be combined with other examinations to evaluate the severity of vascular disease and play an evaluative and guiding role in various scenarios. Furthermore, combining rSS with other indicators, benefits prognosis evaluation, and rSS-derived scores have been increasingly used in clinical practice. This article reviews the progress in the clinical application of rSS and its derived scores for complex coronary arteries and other aspects, based on relevant literature.

Syntactic processing and verbal working memory are both essential components to sentence comprehension. Nonetheless, the separability of these systems in the brain remains unclear. To address this issue, we performed causal-inference analyses based on lesion and connectome network mapping using MRI and behavioural testing in two groups of individuals with chronic post-stroke aphasia.

Article Synopsis
  • * Results showed that patients achieving FCR experienced significantly lower rates of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) compared to those with functional incomplete revascularization (FIR), both in the non-DM and DM groups.
  • * Multivariate analysis indicated that QFR-derived residual SYNTAX score (rSSQFR) is linked to increased MACEs risk, and incorporating it into clinical risk assessments improved the predictive capability for MACEs.*

Background: Despite the excellent success and safety of intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) in heavily calcified lesions, evidence in acute coronary syndromes (ACS) remains limited.

Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the procedural and clinical outcomes of IVL in heavily calcified ACS.

Methods: Patients who underwent IVL between 2019 and 2024 from the ongoing prospective BENELUX registry were eligible for inclusion.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between residual Syntax score (rSS) and long-term prognosis in diabetic patients with renal insufficiency undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 510 patients with coronary heart disease, diabetes, and renal insufficiency who received PCI at the Third People's Hospital of Chengdu from July 2018 to December 2020. Patients were divided into three groups based on their eGFR levels: 113 patients with eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.

Article Synopsis
  • * A total of 454 patients were included, with more men than women, and women showed higher rates of acute coronary syndrome and aorto-ostial lesions.
  • * Results indicated that despite differences in clinical presentation, the safety and efficacy outcomes of IVL were comparable between men and women, demonstrating its effectiveness across genders.
