Published: December 2023

Purpose: To compare tomosynthesis performance to radiography for the differentiation of sacroiliitis versus normal or degenerative changes in sacroiliac joints in patients with suspected axial spondyloarthritis (SpA).

Materials And Methods: Radiography, tomosynthesis and CT of sacroiliac joints (29 patients) were performed on the same day in consecutive patients with suspected SpA. The examinations were retrospectively read independently, blinded by two radiologists (one junior and one senior, and twice by one junior). Interobserver and intraobserver agreement was evaluated using the kappa coefficient. Effective doses for each imaging sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were assessed and compared with CT as gold standard.

Results: CT detected 15/58 joints with sacroiliitis. The imaging sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were 60%, 84% and 44%, respectively, for radiography and 87%, 91% and 77% for tomosynthesis. The mean effective dose for tomosynthesis was significantly lower than that of CT (5-fold less) and significantly higher than that of radiography (8-fold more).

Conclusion: Tomosynthesis is superior to radiography for sacroiliitis detection in patients with suspected SpA, with 5-fold less radiation exposure than CT.

Objective: The aim of this study was to intraindividually compare the conspicuity of focal liver lesions (FLLs) between low- and ultra-low-dose computed tomography (CT) with deep learning reconstruction (DLR) and standard-dose CT with model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) from a single CT using dual-split scan in patients with suspected liver metastasis via a noninferiority design.

Materials And Methods: This prospective study enrolled participants who met the eligibility criteria at 2 tertiary hospitals in South Korea from June 2022 to January 2023. The criteria included (a) being aged between 20 and 85 years and (b) having suspected or known liver metastases.

Objectives: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has a considerable disease burden with life-long physical limitations, reduced work productivity and high societal costs. Trials on arthralgia at-risk for RA are therefore conducted, aiming to intercept evolving RA and reduce the disease burden. A 1-year course of methotrexate in patients with clinically suspect arthralgia (CSA) caused sustained improvements in subclinical joint inflammation and physical impairments.

Background: The incidence of diabetic foot infections is increasing due to the rising number of persons with diabetes and the prolonged life expectancy. It is vital to differentiate soft-tissue infection (STI) from diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO), as treatment modalities and durations vary widely, but this can be challenging. We aimed to assess the blood concentration levels of the high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB-1) in STI and DFO compared to healthy subjects, and to investigate whether this protein could contribute to differentiating STI from DFO.

Department of Radiological Sciences, School of Health Science, Fukushima Medical University, 10-6 Sakae, Fukushima City, Fukushima, 960-8516, Japan.

Objective: This study aims to accurately classify ATN profiles using highly specific amyloid and tau PET ligands and MRI in patients with cognitive impairment and suspected Alzheimer's disease (AD). It also aims to explore the relationship between quantified amyloid and tau deposition and cognitive function.

Methods: Twenty-seven patients (15 women and 12 men; age range: 64-81 years) were included in this study.
