Based on the traditional Chinese cultural belief of "male breadwinner, female homemaker", as well as the systemic and interactive characteristics of families, this study aims to explore the relationship between maternal gatekeeping behavior and the quality and quantity of paternal parenting, as well as adolescent aggressive behavior. A total of 483 seventh-grade students completed questionnaires on maternal gatekeeping behavior, paternal involvement, parenting styles, and aggressive behavior. Latent profile analysis identified four parenting combinations: positive, negative, mixed, and neglectful. Adolescents under negative parenting exhibited the highest aggression and experienced the highest maternal gatekeeping behavior, while those under positive and neglectful parenting showed the least aggression and least maternal gatekeeping behavior. Maternal gatekeeping behavior correlated with paternal negative parenting and adolescent aggression. Paternal negative parenting mediated the relationship between maternal gatekeeping and aggression, while paternal involvement moderated this relationship. These findings highlight the role of parental interaction in adolescent behavior and support family-based interventions.

From embryogenesis to aging, billions of cells perish daily in mammals. The multistep process by which phagocytes engulf these deceased cells without eliciting an inflammatory response is called efferocytosis. Despite significant insights into the fundamental mechanisms of efferocytosis, its implications in disorders such as aging and cancer remain elusive.

Background: One of the contributing factors to the high maternal mortality rate is the failure of the referral system, which inhibits the management of obstetric emergencies. Health workers at primary healthcare facilities serve as the gatekeepers of this referral system, and they must be equipped to make referral decisions, prepare referrals, and transport women safely and quickly to the hospital.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the challenges faced by health workers in primary healthcare settings when implementing appropriate and rapid obstetric emergency referrals for women.

Systematic under-representation of pregnant women and gender diverse pregnant people in clinical research has prevented them from benefitting fairly from biomedical advances. The resulting lack of pharmacological safety and efficacy data leads to medicine discontinuation, sub-optimal dosing, and reliance on repurposed therapies. We identify four roadblocks to fair inclusion.

Background: P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) are multidrug resistance (MDR) transporters that function as placental gatekeepers, lowering the fetal levels of diverse xenobiotics and toxins that may be circulating in the maternal blood throughout pregnancy. Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) and the placenta previa (PP) disorders are obstetric pathologies encompassed by an abnormal invasion of chorionic villous tissue in the uterine wall or at the endocervical os, respectively. Given the fact that MDR transporters are involved in placentation and are highly responsive to inflammation, we hypothesized that immunostaining of P-gp and BCRP would be altered in PAS and in PP specimens.
