Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic vascular disease characterized by inflammation of the arterial wall and the formation of cholesterol plaques. Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune disorder marked by chronic inflammation and destruction of thyroid tissue. Although previous studies have identified common risk factors between AS and HT, the specific etiology and pathogenic mechanisms underlying these associations remain unclear.

Numerous contemporary diseases are linked to food contamination. Pathogenic agents might stem from certain food ingredients or result from pollution stemming from food processing or packaging. One such contaminant is 3-Chloro-1,2-propanediol (3-MCPD), it has been previously reported to be produced during the preparation of chemical sauces, as well as during the heating of baked goods.

The human genome is packaged within a three-dimensional (3D) nucleus and organized into structural units known as compartments, topologically associating domains (TADs), and loops. TAD boundaries, separating adjacent TADs, have been found to be well conserved across mammalian species and more evolutionarily constrained than TADs themselves. Recent studies show that structural variants (SVs) can modify 3D genomes through the disruption of TADs, which play an essential role in insulating genes from outside regulatory elements' aberrant regulation.

Background: Alternative Splicing (AS) is a post-transcriptional process that allows a single RNA to produce different mRNA variants and, in some cases, multiple proteins. Various processes, many yet to be discovered, regulate AS. This study focuses on regulation by RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), which are not only crucial for splicing regulation but also linked to cancer prognosis and are emerging as therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.
