This study explores the conversion coefficients from air kerma to operational quantities for radiation protection, using x-ray spectrometry for the narrow-beam qualities below 300 keV as defined by ISO 4037-1. By employing custom spectral correction algorithms combined with modern cadmium telluride (CdTe) semiconductor detectors, we effectively corrected spectral distortions caused by detection processes, ensuring more reliable measurements. These measurements are crucial for meeting radiation protection standards. The study also analyses the sources of uncertainty associated with the determination of conversion coefficients, thereby providing improved accuracy and reproducibility in photon dosimetry.

Measuring the consumption of processed foods made from a common raw agricultural ingredient requires to make quantities comparable, by converting them in raw product equivalent. This conversion also allows to compute total quantities. In the case of legumes, the challenge is to take into account a wide diversity of final products including packaged dry legumes, processed legumes and products cooked from legumes and other ingredients.

Although the use of ultraviolet (UV) light-emitting diode backlight with red, green, and blue color-conversion layers (CCLs) in displays simplifies the manufacturing process and improves display uniformity, research on blue CCLs remains limited and has been mostly reported in the sky-blue region (> 470 nm), which is insufficient to satisfy the Rec. 2020 color standard. As halide perovskites offer a high extinction coefficient, color purity, and photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), they become highly competitive color-converting materials for CCLs.

Objectives: Monitoring body composition can help to optimize performance in female athletes. This study aimed to create a conversion equation between dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry-measured body fat percentage and ultrasound-measured subcutaneous thigh fat thickness in Division I female athletes as a more accessible, cost-effective alternative.
Design: Cross-sectional study.

Japanese quail () is a popular experimental animal model in scientific research. The present study investigated the effects of dietary multiple enzyme supplementation on growth performance, carcass characteristics, nutrient digestibility and small intestinal histomorphology in quails fed diets based on wheat and soya bean meal. A total number of 192 1-day-old quails were assigned to three treatments with 16 replicates in each and four quails replicate for 38 days.

The elevated glutathione (GSH) level and hypoxia in tumor cells are two key obstacles to realizing the high performance of phototherapy. Herein, the electron-donating rotors are introduced to wings of electron-withdrawing pyrrolopyrrole cyanine (PPCy) to form donor-acceptor-donor structure -aggregates for amplified superoxide radical generation, GSH depletion, and photothermal action for hypoxic cancer phototherapy to tackle this challenge. Three PPCy photosensitizers (PPCy-H, PPCy-Br, and PPCy-TPE) produce hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and superoxide radicals (O) in hypoxia tumors exclusively as well as excellent photothermal performances under light irradiation.
