Biotinylation is probably the most frequent and practically useful modification of molecules to facilitate selective and highly affine binding to (strept)avidin for immobilization, enrichment, and purification for further (bio)chemical or (bio)physical investigations. We present a protecting-group-free synthesis of a branched biotin bis-azide that enables dual-payload late-stage functionalization with arbitrary alkynes via click chemistry. Utility of the chassis is briefly showcased on the example of a valuable Pittsburgh B analogue, which binds pathological protein aggregates, commonly found in neurodegenerative diseases.

Vasoplegia is a pathophysiologic state of hypotension in the setting of normal or high cardiac output and low systemic vascular resistance despite euvolemia and high-dose vasoconstrictors. Vasoplegia in heart, lung, or liver transplantation is of particular interest because it is common (approximately 29%, 28%, and 11%, respectively), is associated with adverse outcomes, and because the agents used to treat vasoplegia can affect immunosuppressive and other drug metabolism. This narrative review discusses the pathophysiology, risk factors, and treatment of vasoplegia in patients undergoing heart, lung, and liver transplantation.

Towards the Stable Chelation of Radioantimony(V) for Targeted Auger Theranostics.

Antimony-119 (119Sb) is one of the most attractive Auger-electron emitters identified to date, but it remains practically unexplored for targeted radiotherapy because no chelators have been identified to stably bind this metalloid in vivo. In a departure from current studies focused on chelator development for Sb(III), we explore the chelation chemistry of Sb(V) using the tris-catecholate ligand TREN-CAM. Through a combination of radiolabeling, spectroscopic, solid-state, and computational studies, the radiochemistry and structural chemistry of TREN-CAM with 1XX/natSb(V) were established.

The somato-cognitive action network (SCAN) consists of three nodes interspersed within Penfield's motor effector regions. The configuration of the somato-cognitive action network nodes resembles the one of the 'plis de passage' of the central sulcus: small gyri bridging the precentral and postcentral gyri. Thus, we hypothesize that these may provide a structural substrate of the somato-cognitive action network.

Methods: This randomized controlled trial included 290 postoperative colon cancer patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University between May 2021 and May 2023. Participants were randomized into two groups: the intervention group, which received standard care supplemented with sleep and nutritional interventions, and the control group, which received standard care alone.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) underpins approximately 90% of squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) of the anus and perianal region. These tumors usually arise in association with precursor lesions such anal intraepithelial neoplasia/ high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (AIN 3/ HSIL), whereas a small subset of HPV-negative cancers may harbor mutations in TP53. Recently, vulvar lesions termed differentiated exophytic vulvar intraepithelial lesion/vulvar acanthosis with altered differentiated (DEVIL/VAAD) have been recognized as HPV-independent, TP53 wild-type precursors for vulvar carcinoma; however, analogous anal lesions have not been described.
