Understanding cell destiny requires unraveling the intricate mechanism of gene regulation, where transcription factors (TFs) play a pivotal role. However, the actual contribution of TFs, that is TF activity, is not only determined by TF expression, but also accessibility of corresponding chromatin regions. Therefore, we introduce BIOTIC, an advanced Bayesian model with a well-established gene regulation structure that harnesses the power of single-cell multi-omics data to model the gene expression process under the control of regulatory elements, thereby defining the regulatory activity of TFs with variational inference.

Addressing data uncertainty of Caulobacter crescentus cell cycles using hybrid Petri nets with fuzzy kinetics.

Studying and analysing the various phases and key proteins of cell cycles is essential for the understanding of cell development and differentiation. To this end, mechanistic models play an important role towards a system level understanding of the interactions between cell cycle components. Many quantitative models of cell cycles have been previously constructed using either stochastic or deterministic approaches.

Reorganization of cortical individualized differential structural covariance network is associated with regional morphometric changes in chronic subcortical stroke.

Department of Radiology, Tianjin Key Lab of Functional Imaging & Tianjin Institute of Radiology, Tianjin Medical University General Hospital, Tianjin 300052, China. Electronic address:

Patients with chronic subcortical stroke undergo regional and network morphometric reorganizations beyond the lesion site, but the interplay between network and regional reorganization remains poorly understood. We aimed to clarify the reorganization patterns of the individualized differential structural covariance networks (IDSCN) in chronic subcortical stroke and investigate their associations with regional gray matter volume (GMV) changes and functional recovery. Structural MRI from four datasets enrolled 112 patients with chronic subcortical stroke (81 male, age: 55.

Decisional confidence refers to the subjective evaluation of the accuracy of a decision based on sensory information. While these judgments are typically grounded in the strength of evidence leading to a decision, they are also subjected to influence from top-down factors such as prior expectations. Previous research has highlighted the impact of prior information on decision parameters such as reaction times and decision criteria placement.

A successful mitosis-to-meiosis transition in germ cells is essential for fertility in sexually reproducing organisms. In mice and humans, it is established that expression of STRA8 is critical for meiotic onset in both sexes. Here we show that BMP signalling is also essential, not for STRA8 induction but for correct meiotic progression in female mouse fetal germ cells.
