Since their inception in the early 1960s, the development and use of nanoscale materials have progressed tremendously, and their roles in diverse fields ranging from human health to energy and electronics are undeniable. The application of nanotechnology inventions has revolutionized many aspects of everyday life including various medical applications and specifically drug delivery systems, maximizing the therapeutic efficacy of the contained drugs by means of bioavailability enhancement or minimization of adverse effects. In this review, we utilize the CAS Content Collection, a vast repository of scientific information extracted from journal and patent publications, to analyze trends in nanoscience research relevant to drug delivery in an effort to provide a comprehensive and detailed picture of the use of nanotechnology in this field.

Purpose: Melanoma brain metastases (MBMs) are a common, lethal complication of metastatic melanoma. Despite improvements in treatments, subsets of MBM patients experience rapid decline, and few prognostic biomarkers have been identified. An improved understanding of the molecular features specifically associated with MBM overall survival (OS) and intracranial progression free survival (PFS) could facilitate the development of more effective clinical management strategies.

Synthetic vinyl polymers have long been recognized for their potential to be utilized in drug delivery, tissue engineering, and other biomedical applications. The synthetic control that chemists have over their structure and properties is unmatched, allowing vinyl polymer-based materials to be precisely engineered for a range of therapeutic applications. Yet, their lack of biodegradability compromises the biocompatibility of vinyl polymers and has held back their translation into clinically used treatments for disease thus far.

The management of road safety relies on data from road traffic crashes to identify priorities, monitor trends and evaluate interventions. Both police and hospital records are important sources of information on crashes that result in injury; however, both are known to be incomplete, with the quality and completeness of data being lower in low- and middle-income countries. The aim of this study is to estimate the magnitude of the underreporting of crashes in Dire Dawa City, Ethiopia, as a case study that may be applicable elsewhere.
