An efficient and environmentally friendly electrochemical oxidative selective halogenation of pyrazolones has been developed under conditions free of metals, external oxidants, and external supporting electrolytes. The reaction demonstrates good functional group tolerance and maintains high efficiency in large-scale synthesis, yielding moderate to excellent yields of the desired 4-halopyrazolones. This method provides a green and convenient route for the direct installation of a halogen moiety into bioactive pyrazolone derivatives, which can be utilized in a myriad of applications.

As an accelerated electron transfer device, the influence of microbial electrochemical snorkel (MES) on soil greenhouse gas production remains unclear. Electron transport is the key to methane production and denitrification. We found that the NO amount of the MES treatment was comparable to the control however the cumulative CO and CH emissions were reduced by 50% and 41%, respectively.

Developing high-energy-density lithium-sulfur batteries faces serious polysulfide shuttle effects and sluggish conversion kinetics, often necessitating the excessive use of electrolytes, which in turn adversely affects battery performance. Our study introduces a meticulously designed electrocatalyst, Cu-CeO@N/C, to enhance lean-electrolyte lithium-sulfur battery performance. This catalyst, featuring in situ synthesized Cu clusters, regulates oxygen vacancies in CeO and forms Cu-CeO heterojunctions, thereby diminishing sulfur conversion barriers and hastening reaction kinetics through the generation of S/S intermediates.

Anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) are among the most promising sustainable electrochemical technologies to help solve energy challenges. Compared to proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs), AEMFCs offer a broader choice of catalyst materials and a less corrosive operating environment for the bipolar plates and the membrane. This can lead to potentially lower costs and longer operational life than PEMFCs.

This study aimed to investigate whether the water-soluble pharmaceutical form of phosphatidylcholine nanoparticles (wPC) stimulated the catalytic activity of CYP enzymes 2C9 and 2D6. We have shown that electroenzymatic CYP2C9 catalysis to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug naproxen as a substrate was enhanced from 100% to 155% in the presence of wPC in media. Electroenzymatic CYP2D6 activity in the presence of the adrenoceptor-blocking agent bisoprolol as a substrate was elevated significantly from 100% to 144% when wPC was added to potassium phosphate buffer solution.
