As an essential component of the fungal cell wall, β-1,6-glucan has an important role in the growth and development of fungi, but its distribution has not been investigated in . Here, a novel β-1,6-glucanase from , Glu16, was cloned and expressed in . The enzyme was highly active on pustulan, with a specific activity of 219.0 U/mg at pH 5.0 and 50°C, and showed great selectivity for continuous β-1,6-glycosidic bonding polysaccharides. Based on this, β-1,6-glucan was selectively visualized in the vegetative hyphae, conidia and bud tubes of using a hydrolytically inactive GFP-tagged Glu16 with point mutations at the catalytic position (His-Glu16-Gfp). The spore germination and appressorium formation were significantly inhibited after incubation of 10/ml conidia with 0.03 μg/μl Glu16. Mycelia treated with Glu16 produced reactive oxygen species and triggered the cell wall integrity pathway, increasing the expression levels of genes involved in cell wall polysaccharide synthesis. These results revealed that Glu16 participated in the remodeling of cell wall in , laying a foundation for the analysis of cell wall structure.

Purpose: To compare a novel high-resolution optical coherence tomography (OCT) with improved axial resolution (High-Res OCT) with conventional spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT) with regard to their capacity to characterize the disorganization of the retinal inner layers (DRIL) in diabetic maculopathy.
Methods: Diabetic patients underwent multimodal retinal imaging (SD-OCT, High-Res OCT, and color fundus photography). Best-corrected visual acuity and diabetes characteristics were recorded.

Background: Diagnosis of Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) and Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) may be challenging as many patients present with non-specific symptoms. Superficial cranial arteries are predilection sites of inflammatory affection. Ultrasound is typically the diagnostic tool of first choice supplementary to clinical and laboratory examination.

Background: Fumarate hydratase-deficient renal cell carcinoma (FHRCC) is an aggressive carcinoma that typically presents as advanced-stage disease. Prompt recognition of FHRCC is critical for appropriate clinical care and genetic counseling for patients and family members. However, diagnosing FHRCC from cytology specimens is challenging, with limited characterization and no reports describing prospectively identified cases.

Cystic basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a rare subtype of BCC (1). Histologically, it is usually characterized by multiple small cysts without a clinical cystic appearance (2). Herein, we report an unusual case of cystic BCC with a large vulvar cyst.

Background And Aims: Cadherins are adhesion proteins, and their dysregulation may result in the development of atherosclerosis, plaque rupture, or lesions of the vascular wall. The aim of the present study was to detect the associations of cadherins-P, -E, and -H, with atherosclerosis and pathological cardiovascular conditions.
Methods And Results: The present study with 3-year follow up evaluated atherosclerosis and fasting levels of P-, E-, and H-cadherins in the serum samples of 214 patients in a hospital setting.
