The sample of 600 men were assessed using a survey. The work ability index was used to measure work ability. An original survey was developed, which included questions about self-assessment of health and taking care of health, motives for taking care of health, physical activity, healthy eating and smoking. . Most men rated their health well and declared that they took care of it. Low health scores were obtained among overweight men, men without physical activity, men with unhealthy nutrition and smokers. High self-rated health was associated with good work ability. . There is a constant need to make men of all ages aware of the role of individual health care in maintaining good health and high work ability.
