Background: Blood accumulation often occurs during bleeding in surgery. Simulating the blood accumulation in surgical simulation system not only enhances the realism and immersion of surgical training, but also helps researchers better understand the physical properties of blood flow.
Methods: To realistically simulate the blood accumulation during the bleeding, this paper proposes a novel kernel function with non-negative second derivatives to improve the SPH method. Meanwhile, a simple form of boundary force equation is constructed to impose the solid boundary condition.
Results: We simulate the blood accumulation during liver bleeding and vessel bleeding respectively in the surgical simulation system. The simulation results show that there is no occurrence of blood physically penetrating the boundary.
Conclusions: Applying the solid boundary condition to the blood by using the method proposed in this paper is not only convenient but can also eliminate compression instability in the blood accumulation simulation.

Background: Leukemia may form at any age, from newborns to the elderly, and accounts for considerable mortality worldwide.
Objectives: Nerolidol (NRD) is isolated from the aromatic florae oils and was found to have anticancer activities. However, the role of NRD in antiproliferative and apoptosis actions in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is unclear.

The pathogenesis of thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) in Marfan syndrome (MFS) is generally attributed to vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) pathologies. However, the role of immune cell-mediated inflammation remains elusive. Single-cell RNA sequencing identified a subset of CX3CR1+ macrophages mainly located in the intima in the aortic roots and ascending aortas of Fbn1C1041G/+ mice, further validated in MFS patients.

Objectives: Adipsin and leptin are adipokines that link adipose tissue dysfunction and increased fat accumulation to obesity-related metabolic disorders. This study aimed to assess the effects of sitagliptin/metformin versus metformin monotherapy on the levels of adipsin, leptin, and lipid profile in type 2 diabetic patients.
Methods: This comparative case-control study included 120 participants divided into four groups: healthy participants, newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients, metformin-treated patients, and sitagliptin/metformin-treated patients.

We herein report a 56-year-old man with severe hypocalcemia during ruxolitinib therapy for myelofibrosis transitioning from JAK2 mutation-positive polycythemia vera. Blood transfusions were administered every one to two weeks for ruxolitinib-induced anemia. Blood tests revealed hypocalcemia with low TRACP-5b, 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 (OH) D), and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25 (OH) D) levels within the lower reference range.
