Introduction: Pericardial thrombosis that complicates pericardial bleeding is a life-threatening emergency in interventional cardiology, and surgery remains the only definitive treatment option. We report the first case of successful intrapericardial thrombus aspiration using a dedicated thrombus aspiration catheter in the early stage of pericardial thrombosis.
Case Report: A 76-year-old woman with non-valve atrial fibrillation underwent percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) closure for secondary prevention of stroke.

Objective: Due to severely limited donor heart availability, durable mechanical circulatory support remains the only treatment option for many patients with end-stage heart failure. However, treatment complexity persists due to its univentricular support modality and continuous contact with blood. We investigated the function and safety of reBEAT (AdjuCor GmbH), a novel, minimal invasive mechanical circulatory support device that completely avoids blood contact and provides pulsatile, biventricular support.

Fetal compressive intrapericardial teratoma is a rare and life-threatening condition, qualifying as a high-acuity low-occurrence (HALO) event. To prepare for delivery and immediate neonatal management, specialists from pediatric cardiology, cardiac surgery, maternal-fetal-medicine, neonatology, cardiac anesthesia, critical care, clinical perfusion, obstetrical nursing, and operating room nursing convened. An in situ operating room simulation was used to identify and introduce key team members, derive and practice the anticipated clinical management algorithm, position human and equipment resources strategically, and ensure that each specialist team was familiar with the environment and available equipment.

Umbilical venous catheter insertion is a common procedure in the neonatal units performed for rapid vascular access. Though relatively safe and easy to perform, suboptimal position of the catheter tip is frequently encountered and can lead to wide range of complications from venous thrombosis, catheter extravasation with extravasation of infusate to intraperitoneal or intrapericardial space, liver injury and cardiac arrhythmias. Identification of catheter extravasation may be difficult and often confused with catheter related infection or necrotising enterocolitis.
