Demulsification of crude oil emulsion is an obvious problem in the whole of petroleum engineering, which needs to be dealt with urgently. In this paper, a supramolecular material Cucurbit[7]uril-SiO (CB-SiO) synthesized with excellent demulsification efficiency (DE) on O/W emulsion was synthesized by a simple thermal synthesis method. The microscopic morphology and structure were investigated through modern characterization techniques. Furthermore, its stability, dynamic interfacial tension (IFT), and wettability (three-phase contact angle (CA)) were systematically investigated, and the demulsification efficiency of different conditions on crude oil emulsion was also investigated. Reassuringly, these results showed that when the temperature was 70 °C, the demulsification dosage was close to 600 mg/L and remained unchanged for 90 min; the demulsification efficiency is 2.2 times compared with the unmodified material, up to 93.63%. In addition, a plausible demulsification mechanism was proposed, which is that CB-SiO can adsorb and disrupt the oil-water interface, leading to oil-water separation and promoting demulsification. It is a promising demulsification material for the oil industry demulsification.

Oxidative damage, oxidative inflammation, and a range of downstream diseases represent significant threats to human health. The application of natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents can help prevent and mitigate these associated diseases. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effectiveness of walnut green husk (WNGH) as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent in an in vitro setting.

On August 24, 2023, Japan controversially decided to discharge nuclear wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean, initiating intense domestic and global debates. This study employs a mixed-method approach, integrating quantitative evolutionary game theory and qualitative data analysis to explore the strategic dynamics among Japan, other nations, and the Japan Fisheries Association regarding this decision. The data includes international environmental reports and economic statistics, served as the basis for simulating decision-making processes under various legal, economic, and environmental pressures.

The increasing demand for sustainable food packaging has driven the development of films based on biopolymers. However, enhancing their functional properties remains a challenge. In the current study, potato starch-pectin (PSP) composite films were fabricated and enriched with juniper berry essential oil (JBEO) to improve their physicochemical properties.

Background: Household air pollution is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease burden in women in Sub-Saharan Africa. However, little is known about exposures during pregnancy or the effect of clean cooking interventions on postpartum blood pressure trajectories.

Methods: The Ghana Randomized Air Pollution and Health Study (GRAPHS) randomized 1414 non-smoking women in the first and second trimesters to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or improved biomass stoves - vs control (traditional three-stone open fire).

Background: Mosquito-borne diseases have a significant public health threat worldwide, with arboviruses accounting for a high proportion of infectious diseases and mortality annually. Brazil, in particular, has been suffering outbreaks of diseases transmitted by mosquito viruses, notably those of the genus, such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. Against this background, the São Paulo Zoo is an intriguing ecological niche to explore the virome of mosquitoes, potentially shedding light on the dynamics of arbovirus transmission within a confined setting.
