This paper presents a new energy-efficient space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) for controlling the switches of a New three-phase inverter (NTPI) for photovoltaic (PV) applications to reduce switching losses, the peak value, and the of the common mode voltage (CMV) with fewer number of switches. The proposed system offers a reliable operation in PV energy system with less leakage current and increased efficiency because of the reduction of the CMV, the source of leakage current in PV inverter-based application. Moreover, this also optimizes the operation of electric vehicle application with lower bearing failure. The performance of the proposed system with the new SVPWM is evaluated to the existing PWM in the literature, as well as the active zero state pulse width modulation (AZSPWM) of the two-level inverter introduced under identical conditions. Experiments and MATLAB simulations have both been used in this study.

This paper presents an active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) approach for three-phase four-legs voltage source inverters (FL-VSIs) in a standalone renewable energy resources (RES)-based islanded microgrid. The key purpose of the proposed approach is to improve the control robustness against load-side disturbances, power supply parameters uncertainties, and faulty operating conditions. Indeed, a notable benefit of ADRC is its ability to operate effectively without the need for precise knowledge of disturbance characteristics or accurate modeling and FL-VSI parameters.

In the field of industrial drive applications, a neutral point clamped multilevel inverter (NPC MLI) is an extensively used option. The NPC MLI architecture involves more number of components for higher level and higher switching frequency operation. In this work paper, a novel three-phase 3-Level MLI is proposed evading the usage of clamping diodes and quadratic switches.

The coupled relationship between inputs and outputs in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, as well as the multiplicative uncertainties caused by multiplicative faults, increases the complexity of fault diagnosis (FD) and fault-tolerant control (FTC). Research has indicated that coprime factor uncertainties are suitable for modeling multiplicative uncertainties. This paper presents an FD and FTC strategy for MIMO systems based on the ν-gap metric technique within the coprime factorization framework.

Multiphase machines are very essential for industrial applications that require high reliability of operation. In this paper, a comparative study of three-phase and five-phase inverter fed permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) was evaluated with respect to their performance characteristics under a healthy state and during transient disturbances such as varied load and double line to ground faults. To avert inherent high oscillations in speed and torque ripples during fault condition, the machine load was significantly reduced to 1/4th of the full load and a post fault current limiting series dynamic braking resistance (SDBR) with a bypassed switch was introduced to enhance the machine fault tolerant level and improve its operational performance.
