Disruption of tumor-intrinsic PGAM5 increases anti-PD-1 efficacy through the CCL2 signaling pathway.

J Immunother Cancer

January 2025

Department of Radiation Oncology, The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, Anhui, 230001, China

Background: Immunosuppressive phenotype compromised immunotherapy efficacy of hepatocellular carcinoma. Tumor cells intrinsic mitochondria dynamics could pass effects on the extracellular microenvironment through mtDNA stress. PGAM5 anchors at mitochondria and regulates mitochondria functions.

Background: The postpartum period presents critical challenges for new mothers, involving significant physical and emotional adjustments. Traditionally, Chinese culture has addressed this phase through "doing the month," emphasizing rest and specific cultural practices. Modernization in urban China has led to a rise in professional maternal care centers, yet research on women's experiences and expectations in these settings remains limited.

Directional and Strain-Specific Interaction Between and .

Microorganisms

November 2024

Division of Microbiology, National Center for Toxicological Research, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Jefferson, AR 72079, USA.

The interaction between and strains FRI-1169 and MN8, two original isolated strains from menstrual toxic shock syndrome (mTSS) cases, is a key focus for developing non-antibiotic strategies to control -related infections. While the antagonistic effects of species on through mechanisms like organic acid and bacteriocin production are known, the molecular dynamics of these interactions remain underexplored. This study employs a proteomic approach to analyze the interactions between WCFS1 and strains, FRI-1169 and MN8, during co-culture.

Fibrotic cardiomyopathy represents a significant pathological condition characterized by the interaction between cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts in the heart, and it currently lacks an effective cure. In vitro platforms, such as engineered heart tissue (EHT) developed through the co-culturing of cardiomyocytes and fibroblasts, are under investigation to elucidate and manipulate these cellular interactions. We present the first integration of mathematical electrophysiological models that encapsulate fibroblast-cardiomyocyte interactions with experimental EHT studies to identify and modulate the ion channels governing these dynamics.

Antigen presentation plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of immune-mediated disorders. This study aimed to investigate the effects of IFN-γ and a cytokine mix (5MIX: IL-1α, IL-17A, IL-22, OsM, and TNF-α) on the antigen-presenting capabilities of keratinocytes, with a specific focus on immune-mediated dermatological conditions such as psoriasis (Ps). To achieve this, keratinocytes were treated with IFN-γ and 5MIX, and their impact on the expression of key antigen-presentation molecules, HLA-DRα and CD74, was assessed.
