The experimental investigation for the purpose of studying the possibility of intervertebral osseous adhesion formation when demineralized osseous sawdust is introduced in the intervertebral disk in case of penetrating fractures of bodies of vertebra has been carried out. In 70% of cases the osseous adhesion is formed at the level of disks which demineralized osseous sawdust was introduced to (adhesion was formed, mainly, as perifocal osseous stratifications). Osseous adhesion, in case of introduction of lekozim to the damaged disk, was noted in 20% of cases (1 animal).

Experimental and clinical study of lekozim and collalysine proteolytic enzymes efficacies in extracapsular cataract extraction was carried out. Local application of these agents in irrigation aspiration of the cortical mass from the capsule sac equator not only simplified the technique of the most intricate stage of surgery, but also proved to be a sufficiently effective means of secondary cataract prevention. A follow-up of up to 3 years has shown secondary cataract development in 5 percent of patients after extracapsular cataract extraction administered lekozim, in 10 percent of those administered collalysine, and in 17.

Fluorescein movements in the lens laminae of isolated porcine eyes were examined by biomicroscopy. The stain disseminated in two directions: from the lens nucleus to capsules and fluorescein release into the intraocular fluid and from the outer laminae of the equatorial zone to the nucleus. Lecozyme, a proteolytic agent, accelerated fluorescein movement in both directions.

A two-stage phonophoresis of proteolytic enzymes of lecozim or collalysine was used in a complex treatment of severe eye burns. The main group of patients consisted of 20 patients (23 eyes) treated by lecozim phonophoresis and 6 patients (6 eyes)--by collalysine phonophoresis. The control group consisted of 23 patients (25 eyes) treated by a complex treatment without phonophoresis of proteolytic enzymes.

A microdensitometric analysis of photo negatives of optic sections of lenses of patients with posterior capsule cataracts and with cortical cataracts has shown a positive effect of lekozim on the course of such cataracts. Analysis of microdensitograms of transparent lenses in subjects aged 20 to 80 has shown an augmentation of the optic density in all the lens laminae. A positive effect of the proteolytic agent is explained by the recovery of the intercellular fluid microcirculation via the posterior capsule of the lens.
