Background: Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSDs) are degenerative diseases frequently associated with severe recurrences and high risk of progressive disability. Low back pain (LBP) is a commonly encountered medical disorder in Malaysia's primary care setting, though establishing a direct connection between LBP and the workplace environment in adults is challenging. This case presents a clinic nurse who developed LBP due to a prolapsed intervertebral disc and her clinical management from an Occupational Health Doctor perspective. Her occupational management involved a walk-through survey at an urban hospital, which identified bone marrow aspiration as her most physically demanding task.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the association of sociodemographic, clinical and functional characteristics with the volume of transitions and specific trajectories across living and care settings.
Methods: Using data from the Swedish National Study on Aging and Care in Kungsholmen study, we identified transitions across home (with or without social care), nursing homes, hospitals and postacute care facilities among 3021 adults aged 60+. Poisson and multistate models were used to investigate the association between sociodemographic, clinical and functional characteristics and both the overall volume and hazard ratios (HRs) of specific transitions.

This study adopts a life course perspective and integrates hukou as a potential institutional arrangement shaping pain, aiming to advance the understanding of health inequalities in China. Specifically, we examine urban-rural disparities in pain prevalence and investigate how these disparities evolve across the life course by using generalized estimating equations and the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study 2011-2020 (N = 16479).
