Salusin-α and salusin-β peptides are crucial in the development of cardiovascular diseases like coronary artery disease (CAD). This study compared serum levels of these peptides in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), those with both OSA and CAD. Patients without OSA were included in Group 1, those with OSA alone comprised Group 2, and those with OSA and CAD were in Group 3. Salusin-α level was significantly higher in controls than in Groups 2 and 3, while salusin-β levels were significantly higher in Groups 2 and 3 compared with the control group. Salusin-α and -β levels may be parameters that can guide the diagnosis of OSA in patients with a consistent clinical history.

Objectives: The prevalence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is known to be higher in children with Down syndrome (DS) than the general pediatric population, with lower rates of surgical cure. This study aims to determine the prevalence and predictors of OSA and evaluate the outcomes of surgical intervention for OSA in a cohort of Australian children with DS.
Methodology: A retrospective chart review was conducted on 156 patients with DS from 0 to 18 years who had undergone overnight, attended polysomnography (PSG) at Sydney Children's Hospital from January 2010 to July 2023.

Background And Aims: Self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) are effective in alleviating malignant colorectal obstruction. However, bowel perforation following SEMS placement remains a significant concern, as it can adversely affect oncological outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the recurrence and overall survival rates associated with SEMS-related bowel perforations.

Background: Subdural hematoma (SDH) typically occurs due to traumatic brain injury but can arise as a rare complication of procedures like endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV).
Case Presentation: We report an unusual case in a 9-year-old male with previous resection of a fourth-ventricle ependymoma at 2 years of age. Seven years post-surgery, he presented with worsening hydrocephalus and underwent ETV.

Introduction: Mucorales infections in the airways of lung transplant (LT) patients are rare but have a rising incidence in transplanted lungs.
Objective: We present our experience with LT in immediate postoperative infections due to mucormycosis.
Methods: Review of 767 LT performed in Andalusia between 2000 and 2023 identifying Mucorales through microbiological results and histological findings.

Background: Angina with non-obstructive coronary artery disease (ANOCA) is commonly observed in patients with stable angina undergoing coronary angiography. Current guidelines recommend non-invasive stress testing as the first step in diagnosing coronary microvascular disease (CMD). This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic value of non-invasive stress testing in patients invasively diagnosed with CMD.
