Mutations in the PRPF31 gene are a well-known cause of autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (RP), the most prevalent genetic form of blindness in adults, affecting 1 in 4,000 individuals globally. In this study, peripheral blood mononuclear cells from a patient carrying a heterozygous mutation in PRPF31 were reprogrammed to generate the human iPSC line ESi132-A. This cell line was thoroughly characterized for self-renewal and pluripotency.

Vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) represents a clinical challenge for transplant therapy, as it involves different tissues with unique immunogenicity. Even when receiving immunosuppressive therapy, they are more vulnerable to severe hypoxia, microvascular damage, and ultimately the rejection or chronic graft dysfunction after transplantation. This study aimed to develop a surgical protocol for VCA of the ear in a porcine biomodel in the absence of immunosuppression, maintaining the in vitro co-culture of the allograft and assessing their relationship with allograft survival.

Background: Microsurgery is crucial in neurosurgery, requiring precise skills for interventions on delicate structures. Effective training is essential for developing these skills. In Peru and Latin America, however, there is a notable shortage of specialized training centers and high costs associated with foreign simulators, hindering the development of neurosurgical skills.

Background: Increased femoral anteversion (FAV) is crucial in the genesis of anterior knee pain (AKP) and a femoral derotational osteotomy (FDO) has demonstrated good clinical results. It remains unclear at what level of the femur the osteotomy should be performed. Resulting degrees of FAV measured by Murphy's method do not always correspond to the degrees that had been planned after an FDO.
