Hinokitiol is a natural broad-spectrum antimicrobial monoterpenoid, which is widely used as an antiseptic in food, cosmetics and other products. In the present study, the toxic actions of hinokitiol to the plant pathogen were investigated. The EC value for mycelial growth inhibition was 2.63 μg/mL, and there was no positive or negative cross-resistance between hinokitiol and carbendazim. The emulsifiable concentrate of 30% hinokitiol was prepared, which has excellent application prospect in the prevention of sclerotinia and gray mould. Hinokitiol is a promising spray fungicide for stems and leaves rather than seeds and roots.

Pinto beans, an underutilized legume, are abundant in protein content and contain a variety of beneficial phytonutrients. However, the commonly used protein extraction method, alkaline extraction, is associated with several drawbacks. These drawbacks include low extraction yield and purity as well as the production of large amounts of wastewater that can lead to environmental hazards.

Recent explorations into cinnamaldehyde (CIN) have identified its potential as a natural preservative, particularly when incorporated into active packaging to enhance the shelf-life of fruits and vegetables. This study explores the use of cellulose nanofiber (CNF)-stabilized Pickering emulsions as a novel delivery system for essential oils, demonstrating broad applicability in food preservation strategies. We employ CNF as Pickering stabilizers to effectively emulsify and encapsulate CIN, investigating the influence of tannic acid (TA) concentrations on the stability of these emulsions.

To analyze the emission characteristics of VOCs from pesticide use sources in Beijing, the distribution of commonly used pesticides and dosage forms in Beijing was obtained through on-site research, and the VOC content of pesticides in different dosage forms was examined using laboratory testing methods. The emission factors of pesticide VOCs for localized dosage forms in Beijing were established, an inventory of pesticide use source VOCs was compiled, and the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of pesticide use source VOCs were analyzed. The results indicated that ① Pesticide dosage forms were the main factors affecting the emission of VOCs from pesticides, and when accounting for VOC emissions from pesticide sources, it is necessary to know the types of pesticides and active ingredients in the target area and obtain information on pesticide dosage forms simultaneously.

Commercial grease interceptors (GIs), commonly used in food service establishments, are primarily designed to treat fat, oil and grease (FOG) from handwash sink (HS) wastewater. They are generally less effective for removing highly concentrated FOG from dishwasher (DW) effluents which contain highly emulsified FOG with complex long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs). Furthermore, standard testing of GIs uses diesel fuel to simulate FOG separation; however, the flow properties of typical cooking oils and animal fats differ significantly from diesel.
