Effective synthesis and application of single-atom catalysts on supports lacking enough defects remain a significant challenge in environmental catalysis. Herein, we present a universal defect-enrichment strategy to increase the surface defects of CeO-based supports through H reduction pretreatment. The Pt catalysts supported by defective CeO-based supports, including CeO, CeZrO, and CeO/AlO (CA), exhibit much higher Pt dispersion and CO oxidation activity upon reduction activation compared to their counterpart catalysts without defect enrichment. Specifically, Pt is present as embedded single atoms on the CA support with enriched surface defects (CA-HD) based on which the highly active catalyst showing embedded Pt clusters (Pt) with the bottom layer of Pt atoms substituting the Ce cations in the CeO surface lattice can be obtained through reduction activation. Embedded Pt can better facilitate CO adsorption and promote O activation at Pt-CeO interfaces, thereby contributing to the superior low-temperature CO oxidation activity of the Pt/CA-HD catalyst after activation.

The retrospective study aimed to compare the space-maintaining effects of sticky bone (bone graft matrix enriched with injectable platelet-rich fibrin) and titanium mesh for bone augmentation in the aesthetic zone. Patients who underwent single implant placement and had type 2/4 alveolar bone defects (buccal bone wall loss is >50% of the expected implant length) were screened for inclusion in this study. The labial bone plate width was measured at 1, 3, and 5 mm below the apical implant platform on cone beam computed tomography images taken immediately and 6 months after surgery.

3-methyl-4-nitrophenol (PNMC), a chemical prevalent in various industries for drug, dye, and leather production, also serves as a primary byproduct of organophosphate insecticides. Despite its global recognition as an endocrine disruptor with documented reproductive toxicity, its detrimental impact on preimplantation embryonic development has yet to be thoroughly investigated. In this study, through the in vitro culture of mice embryos, it was initially observed that even low concentrations of PNMC exposure led to a significant reduction in blastocyst formation and a sharp decline in the ratio of inner cell mass within the blastocysts.

Poly(glycolic acid) (PGA) is a rapidly degradable polymer mainly used in medical applications, attributed to its relatively high cost. Reducing its price will boost its utilization in a wider range of application fields, such as gas barriers and shale gas extraction. This article presents a strategy that utilizes recycled PGA as a raw material alongside typical carbon nanomaterials, such as graphene oxide nanosheets (GO) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), to produce low-cost, fully degradable yarns via electrospinning and twisting techniques.

The present study aims to analyze the thermal regulation of the Ce/Ce ratio on the nanonetwork titania layer over the titanium (Ti) surface developed by the alkali-mediated surface modification approach. The effect of sequential heat treatment from 200 to 800 °C was evaluated for its surface characteristics such as morphology, phase formation, roughness, hardness, hydrophilicity, etc. Surface oxidation by temperatures up to 600 °C demonstrated a progressive increase in the Ce (CeO) content with a rutile TiO network layer over the Ti surface.
