Hypothalamic hamartomas (HHs) are benign masses, often associated with drug-refractory epilepsy (DRE). Open surgery as well as the endoscopic disconnection techniques are fraught with a high risk of morbidity and failure rates. The authors have been performing robotic-guided radiofrequency (RF) ablation for all types of HH presenting with DRE as a standard procedure at their institution. The authors have operated on 25 patients with HH using this technique over the last 8 years. This is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive technique. In this video article, the authors intend to demonstrate their technique of RF ablative disconnection under robotic guidance.

Purpose: To assess the feasibility and safety of a robotic system for percutaneous needle insertion during thermal ablation of liver tumors.

Materials And Methods: This study analyzed the CT-guided percutaneous needle insertion using the EPIONE robotic device (Quantum Surgical, Montpellier, France) for radiofrequency or microwave liver ablation. The main criteria of the study were feasibility (possibility to perform the thermal ablation after needle insertion), the number of needle adjustments (reiteration of robotically assisted needle insertion when initial needle positioning is considered insufficient to perform ablation), and robotic-guided procedure safety (complications related to the needle insertion).

Background: Bilateral anterior cingulotomy (BAC) constitutes the most commonly performed procedure for treatment of refractory OCD. Evolution of stereotactic procedures has rekindled the interest in the effective management of refractory psychiatric disorders, especially OCD with utmost safety and excellent outcomes.

Objective: The aim of this study was to demonstrate the technique of performing BAC under robotic guidance using radiofrequency ablation with an operative video.

Background: The management of hypothalamic hamartomas (HH) rests upon the type of presentation. These are rare congenital benign lesions presenting either with central precocious puberty (CPP), drug refractory epilepsy (DRE) or combination of both. We present here our experience in the management of these lesions from a neurosurgeon's perspective and review the pertinent literature.
