16S ribosomal nucleic acid (16S rRNA) analysis allows to specifically target the metabolically active members of microbial communities. The stability of the ratios between target genes in the workflow, which is essential for the bioprocess-relevance of the data derived from this analysis, was investigated using synthetic mock communities constructed by mixing purified 16S rRNA from Bacillus subtilis (Bs), Staphylococcus aureus (Sa), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa), Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kp) and Burkholderia cepacia (Bc) in different proportions. The RT reaction yielded one copy of cDNA per rRNA molecule for Pa, Bc and Sa but only 2/3 of the expected cDNA from 16S rRNAs of Bs and Kp.

The height of the water-conducting fracture zones (WCFZ) is crucial for ensuring safe coal mining beneath aquifers, particularly considering the secondary development of the WCFZ in upper seams due to repeated mining in close distance coal seams. Accurately predicting this height is essential for mine safety, groundwater protection, and optimal coal resource use. This study compiles extensive measured data from various mining areas in China to analyze the coupling relationship between the WCFZ development height and six influencing factors: mining thickness, mining depth, coal seam spacing, hard rock lithology ratio, and the slope length of working face.

Purpose: Asymmetric anterior closing-wedge high tibial osteotomy (ACWHTO) allows correction of both excessive posterior tibial slope (PTS) and varus deformity. However, the complexity of this surgery requires a high degree of accuracy, which is less likely to be achieved with standard instrumentations. This study aimed to determine the accuracy of 3D patient-specific cutting guides (PSCGs) to provide the accurate planned correction in the frontal and sagittal planes.

Purpose: The goals of this study were (1) to assess whether the preoperative difference between modalities and extent of deformity are associated with a higher difference between planned and achieved surgical correction and (2) if they yield a higher probability of intraoperative adjustments.
Methods: Retrospective single-centre analysis of patients undergoing patient-specific instrumented (PSI) total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Preoperative radiographic parameters were analysed on weightbearing (WB) long-leg radiographs (LLR) and nonweightbearing (NWB) computed tomography (CT).

Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy (EDMD) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by muscle weakness, joint contractures, and cardiac dysfunction. Within this spectrum, EDMD Type 2, attributed to a heterozygous missense variant in exon 9 of the LMNA gene, presents a distinctive clinical profile. This case report details the presentation and management of a teenage girl displaying neck, trunk, upper and lower limb weakness, Achilles tendon contracture, and lordosis.
