During early development, embryos coordinate the growth of different tissues to ensure that they reach the correct proportions. A new paper in Development shows that tissue scaling occurs in the tail of the post-gastrulation zebrafish embryo. The study suggests that this scaling is underpinned by multi-tissue tectonics, a mechanism whereby the deformation of one growing tissue can impact the dynamics of a neighbouring tissue.

Noise label learning has attracted considerable attention owing to its ability to leverage large amounts of inexpensive and imprecise data. Sharpness aware minimization (SAM) has shown effective improvements in the generalization performance in the presence of noisy labels by introducing adversarial weight perturbations in the model parameter space. However, our experimental observations have shown that the SAM generalization bottleneck primarily stems from the difficulty of finding the correct adversarial perturbation amidst the noisy data.

Objectives: This study explored how group-based early parent education impacts development in preterm infants.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study, with a historical control group, included preterm infants (n = 246) with corrected ages (CAs) of 0-3 months. Those visiting the clinic between July 2017 and December 2018 formed the control group (n = 145), whereas those visiting between January 2019 and February 2020 (n = 101) constituted the education group.

This paper introduces a reduced Gaussian kernel filtered-x least mean square (RGKxLMS) algorithm for a nonlinear active noise control (NANC) system. This algorithm addresses the computational and storage challenges posed by the traditional kernel (i.e.

Lipizzan is a famous horse breed dating back to 1580 when the original stud of Lipica was established by the Hasburg Archduke Charles II. Currently, the Italian State Stud of Lipizzan Horses (ASCAL) is a conservation nucleus managed through strict mating rules where mitochondrial DNA sequences are used to verify the correct assignment of mares to a historical pedigree maternal lineage. Here, we analyzed the D-loop sequences of Lipizzan horses from the ASCAL in Monterotondo (Rome, Italy) in order to confirm their pedigree assignment to known female founder families.
