AI Article Synopsis

  • The bacterium was identified using pure culture and analysis techniques, revealing it shares similarities with a type strain previously isolated from a sow.*
  • The genome of this isolate is significant for its size and virulence-related genes, emphasizing its potential pathogenicity and serving as a reference for future research on similar organisms.*

Article Abstract

Objective: The present study reports the first isolation and whole-genome sequencing of a bacterium from a goat.

Animals And Sample: The was isolated from the uterus of a goat following an abortion.

Procedure: The was identified by pure culture phenotype and MALDI-TOF analysis and further characterized by whole-genome sequencing.

Results: This isolate was reliably identified as and showed similar properties to type strain DSM 19515, which was recovered from a sow following an abortion. The assembled genome of this isolate was 2 564 866 bp long with a GC content of 63.9%. A total of 30 virulence-related genes were determined, suggesting the pathogenic potential of this organism.

Conclusion And Clinical Relevance: This study details the first isolation of from goats. The genotypic findings of this isolate will serve as a baseline description for any similar future studies.

Background: Pertussis is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by (BP). Despite global control of pertussis cases through the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), there has been a significant increase in the incidence of pertussis in recent years, characterized by a "resurgence" in developed countries with high immunization rates as well as a comparable reemergence in certain areas of China. We aim to explore the genotypes and antimicrobial susceptibility of circulating BP from children in Hebei.

Introduction: is a widespread acid-lactic bacterium found in the environment, humans, and animal microbiota, and it also plays a role in the production of traditional food. However, the worldwide emergence of multidrug-resistant strains represents a major public health threat and is the primary reason that the genus is not recommended for the Qualified Presumption of Safety (QPS) list of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), raising concerns about its presence in food products.

Methods: In this study, 39 and 5 isolates were obtained from artisanal brine cheeses and dry sausages, sourced from 21 different Montenegrin producers.

Background: Diarrhea caused by non-O1/O139-group e (NOVC) tends to be mild and can be readily overlooked. In this report, a NOVC strain designated XXM was isolated from the blood of a 68-year-old male undergoing surgical treatment for a bile duct malignancy in October 2023.

Methods: XXM was identified through a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS).

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the genetic etiology in an infertile patient presenting with consistently elevated progesterone levels.

Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from the patient's blood sample and subjected to whole-genome sequencing (NGS) using the Illumina NovaSeq platform. Bioinformatic analyses were conducted to identify single nucleotide variants (SNVs) and insertion-deletion mutations (Indels) potentially associated with the patient's clinical phenotype.
