Serotonin toxicity is a potentially fatal condition caused by increased serotonergic activity in the central nervous system. Cyproheptadine, a serotonergic antagonist, is recommended for treatment; however, there is a lack of evidence to support its use. The present study aimed to evaluate the evidence for the use of cyproheptadine in the management of serotonin toxicity following deliberate self-poisoning.

The current study aims to establish a novel ultra-deformable vesicular system to enhance the drug penetration across the skin by preparing the ketoconazole-loaded menthosomes. It was achieved through regular thin-film evaporation & hydration techniques. To examine the effect of formulation parameters on menthosome characteristics, a 2 full factorial design was used using Design-Expert® software.

Neuropathic pain is a complex and debilitating condition resulting from nerve damage, characterized by sensations such as burning, tingling, and shooting pain. It is often associated with conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), and diabetic polyneuropathy. Conventional pain therapies frequently provide limited relief and are accompanied by significant side effects, emphasizing the need to explore alternative treatment options.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus (CKD-aP) is a common, yet underdiagnosed condition among patients on hemodialysis. Considering the lack of established treatment pathways, we sought to evaluate the use of antidepressant, systemic antihistamines, or gabapentinoid medications among patients with CKD-aP in the year following pruritus assessment.
Methods: We included 6209 patients on hemodialysis in the analysis.

Oppositely charged species can form electrostatic interactions in aqueous solution, and these may lead to reduced solubility of the interacting components. Herein, insoluble complex formation between the lipophilic weakly basic drugs, cinnarizine or loratadine, and the enteric polymer, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose acetate succinate (HPMCAS), was studied and used to better understand drug and polymer release from their corresponding amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs). Surface area normalized release experiments were performed at various pH conditions for three different grades of HPMCAS, LF, MF and HF, as well as their ASDs.
