Reported herein are the bench stable (24)-diazohexa-2,4-dienals (diazodienals) and their unprecedented polycyclization with aldimine and arylamines enabled by Rh(II)/Brønsted acid relay catalysis. This scalable and atom-economical reaction provides direct access to the biologically important azatricyclo[6.2.1.0]undecane fused polycycles having six-contiguous stereocenters. Mechanistic studies revealed that polycyclization proceeds through an unusual triple-nucleophilic cascade initiated by aldimine attack on remote Rh-carbenoid, 6π-electrocyclization of aza-trienyl azomethine ylide, stereoselective aza-Michael addition via iminium activation, and inverse electron-demand intramolecular aza Diels-Alder reaction. The π-π secondary interactions play a crucial role in the preorganization of reactive intermediates for the pericyclic reactions and, hence, the overall efficiency of the polycyclization.

The successful development of a metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived Co/CoO/C core-shell composite integrated into laser-induced graphitic (LIG) carbon electrodes for electrochemical sensing is reported. The sensors are fabricated via a direct laser scribing technique using a UV laser (355 nm wavelength) to induce the photothermolysis of rationally selected ZIF-67 into the LIG matrix. Electrochemical characterization reveals that the incorporation of the laser-scribed ZIF-67-derived composite on the electrode surface reduces the impedance more than 100 times compared with bare LIG sensors.

Background: Limited information is available on the value of integrating family planning and nutrition services to improve related outcomes among women of reproductive age and effective approaches to achieve this. This study aimed to ascertain the perspectives and experiences of global and regional stakeholders about integrating family planning and nutrition services, examine facilitators and barriers and identify opportunities and considerations for integration.
Methods: We conducted semistructured interviews with 34 global and regional stakeholders in family planning, nutrition and related domains.

We present an optomechanical method for locally measuring the rheological properties of complex fluids in the ultra-high frequency range (UHF). A mechanical disk of microscale volume is used as an oscillating probe that monitors a liquid at rest, while the oscillation is optomechanically transduced. An analytical model for fluid-structure interactions is used to deduce the rheological properties of the liquid.

Based on the recent discovery of intrinsic magnetism in monolayer films VSe2, we have constructed a two-dimensional (2D) Heisenberg model incorporating the 1T and 2H structures. These configurations consist of three layers: the upper and lower surface layers and a middle layer. Using the retarded Green's function method, we investigate the spin-wave energy spectrum, spin-wave density of states, and transition temperature of the system.

We investigated the amount and distribution of waste generated by commercial tobacco, electronic cigarette, and cannabis (TEC) use to inform policy options aimed at mitigating the environmental harm caused by these products. Using disproportionate stratified random sampling, we selected 60 census blocks from the eight largest cities in San Diego County, California. We twice surveyed publicly accessible areas in these blocks to quantify TEC waste accumulation and its re-accumulation.
