A chemical and biological exploration of the European polypore afforded two previously undescribed natural products ( and ), together with three known derivatives (-). Chemical structures of the isolated compounds were confirmed through 1D/2D NMR spectroscopic analyses, mass spectrometry, and by comparison with the reported literature. The relative and absolute configurations of were determined according to the ROESY spectrum and time-dependent density functional theory electronic circular dichroism (TDDFT-ECD), respectively. Furthermore, the absolute configuration of dentipellinol () was revisited and revealed to be of () configuration. All the isolated compounds were assessed for their cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities, with some being revealed to have weak to moderate antimicrobial activity, particularly against Gram-positive bacteria.

Intermetallic RNiSi (R = Ca, La, and Y) Catalysts with Electron-Rich Ni Sites for Continuous Flow Selective Hydrogenation of Maleic Anhydride.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

The industrial advancement of downstream products resulting from the directed hydrogenation of maleic anhydride is hindered by the limitations related to the activity and stability of catalysts. The development of nonprecious metal intermetallic compounds, in which active sites are adjustable in the local structures and electronic properties embedded within a distinct framework, holds immense potential in enhancing catalytic efficacy and stability. Herein, we report that nickel-based silicides catalysts, RNiSi (R = Ca, La, and Y), afford high efficiency in the selective hydrogenation of maleic anhydride.

In this study, antiulcer activity of ethanolic extract and solvent fractions of the aerial part of was investigated using ethanol-induced model of gastric ulceration in rats. The results showed that ethyl acetate, non-polar components and diethyl ether fractions have a remarkable antiulcerogenic activity; because they exhibited control-ulcer protection by 85.2%, 77.

Unprecedented (2E,4E,6Z,8Z)-nona-2,4,6,8-tetraenoate derivatives highly substituted by aryl groups have been synthesized by the reaction of rhodium complexes having aryl-substituted hexa-1,3,5-trienyl ligands with acrylates. These compounds have potential axial chirality, and their enantiomers are isolable by the chiral HPLC technique. Although the racemization barrier of isolated enantiomers was not high, it was found that a cyclic dimer synthesized by head-to-tail transesterification of a modified analog has quite a stable axial chirality even at a high temperature.

is a common, waterborne gastrointestinal parasite that causes diarrheal disease worldwide. Currently there are no effective therapeutics to treat cryptosporidiosis in at-risk populations. Since natural products are a known source of anti-parasitic compounds, we screened a library of extracts and pure natural product compounds isolated from bacteria and fungi collected from subterranean environments for activity against .
