Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is a degenerative condition characterized by ischemic bone death, resulting in pain and impaired mobility. Core decompression, a surgical intervention, is widely performed for stage II AVN to alleviate symptoms and delay disease progression. While clinical and radiological outcomes are well-documented, the psychosocial dimensions of recovery remain underexplored.

Background: Traumatic peroneal tendon dislocation (PTD) is known to occur with pilon and calcaneus fractures, however, literature describing PTD in concurrence with injury to the talus remains limited.
Methods: This was a retrospective review of adult patients with operatively treated talus fractures treated at a level I academic trauma center between 2007 and 2021. Charts, radiographs, and advanced imaging, when available, were reviewed for patient demographics, injury characteristics, and complications.

Background: Pediatric femoral neck fractures (PFNF) are rare but associated with a high rate of serious complications such as avascular femoral head necrosis (AVN). Major risk factors and prognostic tools for an AVN are still unclear. As AVN is a devastating complication, this study aims to evaluate the predictors for AVN following a PFNF.

Background: Vascular thymus transplantation has been explored in animal models but remains untested in humans. Current approaches to congenital athymia involve avascular transplantation of allogeneic thymic tissue, which may delay immune recovery. Building on animal studies, we propose revascularization of thymic tissue in a human model.

Although specific techniques vary, core decompression is generally accepted as the treatment of choice for precollapse avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip to delay or prevent progression of the disease. This can be combined with hip arthroscopy to allow visual assessment of the femoral head as well as treatment of intra-articular pathologies, which may contribute to pain and joint degeneration. We describe a technique of hip arthroscopy and concurrent core decompression using an expandable reamer and bone grafting for treatment of hip AVN.
