Introduction: Venous gas emboli (VGE) are a common surrogate experimental endpoint for decompression sickness (DCS). VGE numbers are graded, and the peak post-dive grade is associated with the probability of DCS (PDCS). VGE are typically graded with the subject at rest when bubble numbers are stable, and again after limb flexions which elicit a transient shower of bubbles.

Malabsorption is a complex and multifaceted condition characterised by the defective passage of nutrients into the blood and lymphatic streams. Several congenital or acquired disorders may cause either selective or global malabsorption in both children and adults, such as cystic fibrosis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), coeliac disease (CD) and other enteropathies, lactase deficiency, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), autoimmune atrophic gastritis, Crohn's disease, and gastric or small bowel resections. Early recognition of malabsorption is key for tailoring a proper diagnostic work-up for identifying the cause of malabsorption.

Understanding the dark genome is a priority task following the complete sequencing of the human genome. Short open reading frames (sORFs) are a group of largely unexplored elements of the dark genome with the potential for being translated into microproteins. The definitive number of coding and regulatory sORFs is not known, however they could account for up to 1-2% of the human genome.

Children and young people are disproportionately vulnerable to harm during crises, yet child public health expertise is limited in humanitarian settings and outcomes and impact data are lacking. This review characterises child public health indicators that are routinely collected, required by donors, and recommended for use in fragile, conflict-affected, and vulnerable (FCV) settings. We conducted database and grey literature searches and collected indicators from technical agencies, partnerships, donors, and nongovernmental organisations providing child public health services in FCV settings.

Background And Aims: Recently, Lyon Consensus 2.0 recommended Los Angeles (LA)-B esophagitis as conclusive evidence and LA-A esophagitis as borderline evidence for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of LA-B and LA-A esophagitis.
