Three coordination polymers were successfully constructed in this work by applying biligands and were distinctly characterized through single crystal X-ray diffraction. The compounds crystallized in acentric and centric space groups under the direction of coordination bonds and adopted 1-dimensional link and 2-dimensional layer structures, as well as different coordination geometries for metal atoms. All compounds exhibited good thermal stability and luminescence properties, and compound exhibited a good second harmonic generation (SHG) response. The method used in this work offers a feasible approach to using biligand and changing metal salt to obtain the microstructures of coordination materials with specific properties.

Metallogels built in a bottom-up approach by metal coordination and supramolecular interactions have important potential for the elaboration of smart materials. In this context, we present here the formation of supramolecular coordination polymers driven by the complexation of cobalt(II) or zinc(II) ions with polyoxometalate-based hybrids displaying two terpyridine ligands in a linear arrangement. Thanks to the electrostatic interactions between the polyoxometalate cores and metal nodes, the polymer chains self-assemble into fibers that physically cross-link to form gels above a critical concentration.

Metformin (Met) is one of the most commonly prescribed first-line drugs for diabetes treatment. However, it has several issues, including low bioavailability, therapeutic platform, and side effects at high doses. In order to improve the therapeutic efficiency of Met, this study proposes a strategy of using Met and curcumin (Cur) to prepare Cur-Zn(II)-Met infinite coordination polymer nanoparticles (CM ICP NPs), and combining this with intraperitoneal injections, for the treatment of diabetic mice.
