The genus is distributed mainly in temperate forests and establishes ectomycorrhizal associations with angiosperms and gymnosperms. Studies on this genus are scarce in México. A visual, morphological, and molecular (ITS-LSU) description of , , , , , , , , , , and was carried out in this work, associated with , , and . The results of SEM showed an ornamented ascospores formation by Mexican Taxa; furthermore, the results showed that and are only distributed in Europe and are not associated with any American host.
