Background: Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) fillers are permanent fillers known for their possible side effects. In case of complications, the only possible treatment is surgical removal, followed by procedures to minimize resulting deformity. The aims of this study were (1) to analyse the morphology of the PMMA material in the nodules, (2) to demonstrate that treatment by acoustic wave therapy (AWT) can help the removal of the nodules, and (3) to present an easy procedure to solve deformities.

Objectives: Evaluation of the validity of the Quadruple-D score in the prediction of success in pediatric stone disease.
Materials And Methods: Of the 292 children treated with SWL between 2007 and 2023, a total of 158 children who had adequate follow-up data and evaluated with non-contrast computed tomography before SWL, were included in the study. Parameters were calculated for each of the stone volume (SV), skin-to-stone distance (SSD), stone density (SD) and stone location (SL) variables.

When surgical systems fail, there is the major collateral impact on patients, society and economies. While short-term impact on patient outcomes during periods of high system stress is easy to measure, the long-term repercussions of global crises are harder to quantify and require modelling studies with inherent uncertainty. When external stressors such as high-threat infectious disease, forced migration or climate-change-related events occur, there is a resulting surge in healthcare demand.

Background And Objective: Right ventricular failure increases short-term mortality in the setting of acute myocardial infarction, cardiogenic shock, advanced left-sided heart failure and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Percutaneous and surgically implanted right ventricular assist devices (RVAD) have been investigated in different clinical settings. The use of the ProtekDuo™ is currently a promising approach due to its features such as groin-free approach leading to early mobilisation, easy percutaneous deployment, compatibility with different pumps and oxygenators, and adaptability to different configurations.

Sepsis is a complex clinical syndrome characterized by an uncontrolled inflammatory response to an infection that may result in septic shock and death. Recent research has revealed a crucial link between sepsis and alterations in the gut microbiota, showing that the microbiome could serve an essential function in its pathogenesis and prognosis. In sepsis, the gut microbiota undergoes significant dysbiosis, transitioning from a beneficial commensal flora to a predominance of pathobionts.
