Regressing the accelerated degradation of skeletal muscle protein is a significant goal for cancer cachexia management. Here, we show that genetic deletion of ameliorates skeletal muscle atrophy in various tumor-bearing mice. ablation represses excessive myoblast mitophagy and effectively suppresses mitochondria meltdown and muscle wastage. Next, we define BNIP3 as a mitophagy receptor constitutively associating with PGAM5. deletion restricts body weight loss and enhances the gastrocnemius mass index in the age- and tumor size-matched experiments. The NH-terminal region of PGAM5 binds to the PEST motif-containing region of BNIP3 to dampen the ubiquitination and degradation of BNIP3 to maintain continuous mitophagy. Finally, we identify S100A9 as a pro-cachectic chemokine via activating AGER/RAGE. AGER deficiency or S100A9 inhibition restrains skeletal muscle loss by weakening the interaction between PGAM5 and BNIP3. In conclusion, the AGER-PGAM5-BNIP3 axis is a novel but common pathway in cancer-associated muscle wasting that can be targetable. : AGER/RAGE: advanced glycation end-product specific receptor; BA1: bafilomycin A; BNIP3: BCL2 interacting protein 3; BNIP3L: BCL2 interacting protein 3 like; -Cre: creatinine kinase, muscle-specific Cre; CM: conditioned medium; CON/CTRL: control; CRC: colorectal cancer; FUNDC1: FUN14 domain containing 1; MAP1LC3A/LC3A: microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 alpha; PGAM5: PGAM family member 5, mitochondrial serine/threonine protein phosphatase; S100A9: S100 calcium binding protein A9; SQSTM1/p62: sequestosome 1; TOMM20: translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 20; TIMM23: translocase of inner mitochondrial membrane 23; TSKO: tissue-specific knockout; VDAC1: voltage dependent anion channel 1.

Background: Several epidemiological studies and intervention trials have demonstrated that grapes and blueberries, which are rich in flavanols, can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the mechanisms of action of these compounds remain unclear due to their low bioavailability.
Objective: This study aimed to characterize the sensory properties, blood flow velocity, and oxidative stress of a polyphenol rich grape and blueberry extract (PEGB) containing approximately 16% flavanols (11% monomers and 4% dimers).

Introduction: Cancer cachexia (CC) is characterized by weight loss with specifically reduced skeletal muscles and adipose tissues in patients with late-stage cancer. Dihydroartemisinin (DHA), an effective antimalarial derivative of artemisinin, has been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory and antitumor properties.
Materials And Methods: This study examined the effects of DHA on the Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC)-induced CC mouse model.

Introduction: A large number of middle-aged and elderly patients have an insufficient understanding of osteoporosis and its harm. This study aimed to establish and validate a convolutional neural network (CNN) model based on unenhanced chest computed tomography (CT) images of the vertebral body and skeletal muscle for opportunistic screening in patients with osteoporosis.
Materials And Methods: Our team retrospectively collected clinical information from participants who underwent unenhanced chest CT and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) examinations between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, at four hospitals.

Porcine latissimus dorsi muscle (LDM) is a crucial source of pork products. Meat quality indicators, such as the proportion of muscle fibers and intramuscular fat (IMF) deposition, vary during the growth and development of pigs. Numerous studies have highlighted the heterogeneous nature of skeletal muscle, with phenotypic differences reflecting variations in cellular composition and transcriptional profiles.

This study aimed to determine the association between chronic schizophrenia, extrapyramidal symptoms (EPSs), body composition, nutritional status, and dynapenia/sarcopenia. Data from 68 chronic patients with schizophrenia were analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation coefficients, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Cramér's V statistics. Among the participants, 32.
