Peritonsillar abscesses and deep neck infection are potentially serious infections among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), posing risks for severe complications and drawing significant public health concern. This nationwide, population-based longitudinal study (2002-2019) assessed the extended relationship between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the likelihood of peritonsillar abscess and deep neck infection in a Korean cohort. Using a 1:4 propensity score overlap-weighted matching, we included 16,879 individuals with CKD and 67,516 comparable controls, accounting for demographic variables and comorbidities to ensure balanced group comparisons.

The aim of this study was to evaluate patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) for the potential reperfusion of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVM) treated by catheter embolization using coils or embolization plugs and to analyze causes of possible reperfusion in order to further improve treatment. This retrospective study analyzed the data of 345 patients who underwent screening for pulmonary arteriovenous malformations in cases of suspected or confirmed HHT (Osler's disease). Of these, 118 patients with PAVM that underwent catheter embolization and had at least one follow-up study were included in our study and evaluated for potential reperfusion.

Pulmonary abscess is a rare but serious condition in pediatric patients, caused by severe pulmonary infection that leads to tissue destruction and necrosis. It can be classified as primary or secondary depending on the cause. Establishing an etiology in pediatric pulmonary abscesses is challenging, underscoring the essential role of advanced imaging techniques, such as computed tomography, in achieving an accurate diagnosis and differentiating among various conditions that may mimic lung abscess.

We report a rare case of concurrent onset of osimertinib-induced heart failure and metronidazole-induced encephalopathy during treatment of a brain abscess. A 78-year-old female with lung adenocarcinoma presented with neurological symptoms and was diagnosed with a brain abscess. During treatment, she developed heart failure and encephalopathy, linked to osimertinib and metronidazole, respectively.
