Systemic capillary leak syndrome (SCLS) is a rare entity that is frequently idiopathic or, rarely, associated with infections, autoimmune diseases, drugs, surgery, and cancer. Several cancers can directly cause SCLS, although it is very uncommon as the inaugural presentation of a non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We report a case of SCLS as a paraneoplastic syndrome which revealed a large B-cell lymphoma, a non-Hodgkin lymphoma of B-cell origin.

Among contributors to diffusible signaling are portal systems which join two capillary beds through connecting veins. Portal systems allow diffusible signals to be transported in high concentrations directly from one capillary bed to the other without dilution in the systemic circulation. Two portal systems have been identified in the brain.

The synovium is a loose connective tissue that separates the intra-articular (IA) joint compartments of all diarthrodial joints from the systemic circulation. It can be divided into two layers: the intima, a thin and cell-dense layer atop a more heterogeneous subintima, composed of collagen and various cell types. The subintima contains penetrating capillaries and lymphatic vessels that rapidly clear injected drugs from the joint space which may vary not only with drug size and charge but also with the microstructure and composition of the intima and subintima of the synovium.

We herein report a case of Systemic Capillary Leak Syndrome (SCLS) attributed to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that emerged in 2019. A 56-year-old woman presented with a COVID-19 infection 7 days prior to the visit with upper respiratory symptoms, fatigue, and decreased appetite. Secondary SCLS due to COVID-19 was diagnosed, veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) was initiated as mechanical support, and intravenous immunoglobulin was administered, marking the transition to the recovery phase with the initiation of fluid resuscitation.

Systemic sclerosis-associated Raynaud phenomenon (SSc-RP) confers poor outcomes, including ulceration, gangrene, autoamputation, and hand disability. Prostaglandin analogues (PG) are a group of prostacyclin-derived drugs with properties that may address underlying complex mechanisms of SSc-RP. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of PGs in SSc-RP.

Electrostatic Force-Enabled Microneedle Patches that Exploit Photoredox Catalysis for Transdermal Phototherapy.

Microneedle patches for topical administration of photodynamic therapy (PDT) sensitizers are attractive owing to their safety, selectivity, and noninvasiveness. However, low-efficiency photosensitizer delivery coupled with the limitations of the hypoxic tumor microenvironment remains challenging. To overcome these issues, we developed an effective microneedle patch based on intermolecular electrostatic interactions within a photosensitizer matrix containing a zinc-containing porphyrin analogue, .
