Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a rare biliary tract tumor with high malignancy. CCA is the second most common primary hepatobiliary cancer after hepatocarcinoma. Despite its rarity, the incidence of CCA is steadily increasing globally. Most patients with CCA are asymptomatic in the early stages, resulting in a late-stage diagnosis and poor prognosis. Finding reliable biomarkers is essential to improve CCA's early diagnosis and survival rate. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are non-protein coding RNAs produced by genomic transcription. This includes microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs. ncRNAs have multiple functions in regulating gene expression and are crucial for maintaining normal cell function and developing diseases. Many studies have shown that aberrantly expressed ncRNAs can regulate the occurrence and development of CCA. ncRNAs can be easily extracted and detected through tumor tissue and liquid biopsies, representing a potential tool for diagnosing and prognosis CCA. This review will provide a detailed update on the diagnostic and prognostic potentials of lncRNAs and cirRNAs as biomarkers in CCA.
Background: Single-slice computed tomography (CT) body composition has been studied extensively for prognostication in patients with cancer. New software packages can also provide multi-slice volumetric measurements, but the clinical utility of these remains under explored. This study aimed to evaluate the agreement between single- and multi-slice body composition analyses in patients with oesophagogastric cancer and to explore the association between these measures and overall survival.
In many clinical contexts, the event of interest could occur multiple times for the same patient. Considerable advancement has been made on developing recurrent event models based on or that use biomarker information. However, less attention has been given to evaluating the prognostic accuracy of a biomarker or a composite score obtained from a fitted recurrent event-rate model.
Aim: In early-stage breast cancer, the axillary lymph nodes play a crucial role in determining the prognosis of the disease. The rate of lymph node involvement might be a more valuable prognostic factor than the number of positive lymph nodes. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether the lymph node ratio (LNR) is a superior prognostic indicator compared to the pathologic lymph node count in early-stage disease.

Despite advances in early diagnosis and treatment, CRC remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Up to 30% of CRC patients are diagnosed during emergency department visits, leading to surgical procedures that may not adhere to oncological principles due to complications like obstruction, bleeding, or perforation.
Aim: Posterior cervical expansive open-door laminoplasty (ELAP) is one of the main methods for the treatment of multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). However, some patients are vulnerable to developing complications such as kyphosis and axial symptoms after ELAP, potentially facing adverse prognosis following the procedure. At present, there are few reports on the short-term prognostic factors in Chinese patients with CSM after undergoing ELAP.
