AI Article Synopsis

  • - The survey aimed to assess parents' attitudes, knowledge, and perceptions regarding myofunctional appliances in Chennai through a web-based questionnaire involving 500 participants.
  • - Results revealed that a significant majority (79.8%) of parents recognize skeletal problems, with about 70% willing to recommend myofunctional treatments and 69% acknowledging their importance for corrections.
  • - The study concluded that while most parents are informed about functional appliances and skeletal issues, there is a need for increased awareness to properly diagnose these problems at the right age.

Article Abstract

Aim: The current purpose of the survey is to completely evaluate parents' attitudes, knowledge, and perceptions of myofunctional appliances.

Materials And Methods: Parents in Chennai participated in this cross-sectional web-based questionnaire survey. Pilot study was carried out to determine the sample size, and 500 individuals were the final sample size. The 10 organized, predesigned, and validated questions are on awareness of myofunctional appliance.

Results: The result of the survey showed that in 500 subjects, 79.8% were aware of skeletal problems. The proportion of parents willing to recommend the use of such treatments is about 70%, while 69% believe that myofunctional appliances are important in correcting skeletal problems.

Conclusion: The present study has established that most parents know about the functional appliance and have an understanding of how to distinguish between skeletal problems. In order to diagnose skeletal issues in an appropriate age range for the individual, more awareness about appliances is necessary and needs to be developed.

Patients with recurrent high-grade glioma (rHGG) have a poor prognosis with median progression-free survival (PFS) of <7 months. Responses to treatment are heterogenous, suggesting a clinical need for prognostic models. Bayesian data analysis can exploit individual patient follow-up imaging studies to adaptively predict the risk of progression.

Introduction/aims: A previous randomized controlled trial showed that guided self-help acceptance and commitment therapy plus standard medical care (ACT+SMC) was superior to standard medical care alone (SMC) for improving quality of life (QoL) and mood at 9-weeks post randomization in a sample of people with muscle disorders (MD). This follow-up study evaluated whether these effects were maintained in the longer term alongside individual patterns of response.

Methods: The original study was a two-arm parallel group randomized controlled trial, which compared ACT+SMC to SMC.

The selection of biomarker panels in omics data, challenged by numerous molecular features and limited samples, often requires the use of machine learning methods paired with wrapper feature selection techniques, like genetic algorithms. They test various feature sets-potential biomarker solutions-to fine-tune a machine learning model's performance for supervised tasks, such as classifying cancer subtypes. This optimization process is undertaken using validation sets to evaluate and identify the most effective feature combinations.

Background: In 2013, the British Columbia (BC) Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome Clinical Pathway (CNSCP) was developed to standardize the care of children with nephrotic syndrome (NS). In BC, children access nephrology care at BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) and multiple regional clinics.

Objective: The primary objective was to compare induction therapy and clinical outcomes between BCCH and regional clinics since implementation of the CNSCP.

Background: In low-income countries, women with disabilities face numerous challenges in accessing sexual and reproductive health services and experience high unintended pregnancy rates and adverse pregnancy outcomes, with 42% of cases ending in abortion. However, little is known about unintended pregnancy among women with disabilities in Ethiopia. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence of unintended pregnancy and associated factors among women with disabilities in the Central Regional State of Ethiopia.
