Aim: To assess clinically and histologically the efficacy of TheraCal LC and Biodentine as Direct Pulp Capping agents.

Materials And Method: Sixty caries-free maxillary first premolar teeth which were scheduled for orthodontic extraction were selected for the study and were divided equally into Group 1 (Theracal LC) and Group 2 (Biodentine). Thermal and electric pulp testing was performed on the teeth to assess pulp vitality followed by tooth preparation to expose pulp horns under local anesthesia. After achieving hemostasis, the direct pulp capping agent was placed and composite restoration was done. All the teeth were evaluated and compared in terms of clinical and histological findings after 6 weeks. The statistical analysis used was the Kruskal-Wallis test.

Results: Teeth with Theracal LC showed no sensitivity to heat, cold, or percussion, whereas sensitivity to heat, cold, or percussion was noted with Biodentine. Histological evaluation revealed that TheraCal LC has higher efficiency in complete dentin bridge formation, had maximum dentin thickness, and showed minimal or no pulpal disorganization and pulpal inflammation as compared to Biodentine.

Conclusion: TheraCal LC proves to be a promising future as a direct pulp capping agent.

Crown ether is widely used in water purification because of its ring structure and good selective adsorption of specific heavy metals. However, its high cost and difficulty in recycling limit the purification of heavy metals in water. The anisotropic [2,4]-dibenzo-18-crown-6-modified bamboo pulp aerogel (DB18C6/PA) is successfully synthesized by microwave irradiation and directional freezing technology.

Article Synopsis
  • Heavy metal wastewater is highly toxic even at low levels, posing risks to the environment and human health, necessitating the development of effective treatment methods.
  • MnFeO-loaded bamboo pulp carbon-based aerogel (MCA) is created through freeze-drying and carbonization, and its properties are analyzed using various scientific techniques.
  • MCA shows strong adsorption capabilities for heavy metals Pb, Cu, and Cd, with maximum capacities of 74.38, 84.21, and 73.63 mg/g, indicating its potential for use in wastewater purification.

Regenerative endodontics is a rapidly evolving discipline focused on biologically restoring the pulp-dentin complex to revive vitality in non-vital teeth. Unlike traditional endodontic therapies that rely on inert materials to preserve structure, regenerative techniques aim to re-establish natural structure and function by harnessing advancements in tissue engineering. This narrative review examines recent progress in stem cell applications, scaffold development, signaling molecules, and clinical protocols that contribute to successful regenerative outcomes.

The Aim Of The Study: To determine the type of electric current with the greatest diagnostic value used to study the electrical sensitivity of teeth in inferior alveolar nerve neuritis.

Materials And Methods: We examined 32 patients aged from 22 to 57 years, in whom neuritis of the inferior alveolar nerve developed due to traumatic removal of the lower third molar. There were 14 females and 18 males.

Effect of vasoconstriction by dexmedetomidine in the mandible of rat.

Department of Dental Anesthesiology, Ohu University, School of Dentistry, Fukushima, Japan.

Background: In recent years, dexmedetomidine (DEX) has been proposed as a useful vasoconstrictor for local anesthesia because it is less effective in circulation than clonidine of antihypertensive drugs. In addition, DEX is expected to act as a vasoconstrictor during local anesthesia. However, histomorphometric studies demonstrating that DEX exerts vasoconstrictive effects are lacking.
