Congenital ectopic bilateral parotid glands are extremely rare, to date only two cases have been reported in the literature. Our patient, a 5-day-old male, presented with bilateral palpable cheek swelling. On imaging, the absence of bilateral parotid glands in parotid space and their ectopic location, anterior to the masseter muscle, was seen. Our case emphasizes ectopic parotids as an important differential among conditions presenting with bilateral cheek swelling in children. We have also compared the findings of previously described cases and their management with our case.

Pediatric-type follicular lymphoma (PTFL) is an extremely rare B-cell lymphoma that primarily affects children and young adults, typically in individuals under 25 years old, with a median age of 15 years. Here, we report a rare case of PTFL in a 27-year-old adult male who presented with a slow-growing mass near his left ear. Initial CT scans of the neck revealed two oval-shaped, smooth, well-defined, homogeneously enhancing soft tissue density lesions in the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland.

IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a rare but increasingly recognised condition that can involve multiple organs, including the kidneys which often presents as tubulointerstitial nephritis. Treatment with glucocorticoids is the first line of therapy, but other options may be needed in refractory cases. This case report explores a 68-year-old female, diagnosed with the patient initially responded to glucocorticoids but had a relapse, leading to progressive renal insufficiency and ultimately death.

Objectives: To investigate the effects of selenium on functional and histopathological changes and mRNA expression levels of insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2 (IGF-1 and -2) and aquaporins 4 and 5 (AQP-4 and -5) in 131I-induced damaged rat parotid glands.
Methods: Rats were divided into three groups: iodotherapy-with-selenium, iodotherapy-only, and control. Rats in the iodotherapy-with-selenium group were intragastrically administered 131I on the first day and selenomethionine through drinking water.

Purpose: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) perform as a treatment option for locally advanced or recurrent unresectable head and neck cancers since June 2020 in Japan. The effect of BNCT on parotid carcinoma, which presents a variety of histologic types, remains unclear. The object of this study was to investigate the antitumor efficacy of BNCT against parotid gland carcinoma by focusing on LAT1, which is involved in the uptake of L-BPA, the boron compound used in BNCT.

Background: Different parotid tumors differ in terms of treatment strategies due to their distinct biological behaviors. Time-dependent diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (t-dMRI) can characterize and quantify the cytological indexes, and then aid the differential diagnosis of various tumors. However, the value of t-dMRI in the analysis of parotid gland tumors remains unclear.
