is a functional fruit with tonic effect and was widely used by traditional Chinese medicine for treatment and health care. The quality of fruit may vary by different storage condition. In this study, the influence of ambient temperature, humidity, packaging materials and period of storage on the quality of fruits were investigated. The contents of main active components lignans and organic acids were simultaneously determined by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole electrostatic field orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC Orbitrap HRMS). The antioxidant activity was determined using DPPH radical scavenging capacity, ABTS inhibition rate and FRAP value. The correlation of multicomponent and antioxidant activity was analyzed by grey relevance analysis. Taking the changes of multicomponent and antioxidant activity as investigation index, fruits under different storage conditions was comprehensively evaluated. Schisandrol A, malic acid, sorbic acid, schizandrin A, schizandrin B, and schisandrol B were the main effective components of antioxidant activity. Ambient temperature at 5 °C and humidity at 40 % were more suitable for fruits and kraft paper bag was better packaging material. Do not exceed 1 year was the effective storage period. For the safety evaluation, no aflatoxin was detected within the storage period of 2 years, demonstrated the storage was satisfactory. This study provided a reference for the high-quality storage and standardized operating procedures for storage of fruits.

Outcome of Er, Cr:YSGG laser and antioxidant pretreatments on bonding quality to caries-induced dentin.

BMC Oral Health

January 2025

Conservative Dentistry Department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Future University, Cairo, Egypt.

Background: This study aimed to assess the influence of different pretreatment protocols and antioxidants application on the shear bond strength (SBS) of universal adhesive to sound (SoD) and caries-induced dentin (CID).

Methods: One hundred and twenty posterior teeth had their occlusal enamel removed, then the specimens were divided into two main groups according to dentin substrates; SoD and CID, three subgroups according to pretreatments protocols control (no pretreatment), NaOCl-treated, and Er, Cr:YSGG-treated and two divisions according to antioxidant application (with and without sodium ascorbate (SA) application). All-Bond Universal (ABU) universal adhesives was applied in self-etch (SE) mode then resin composite discs were built.

Background: Preserving plant genetic resources is essential for tackling global food security challenges. Effectively meeting future agricultural demands requires comprehensive and efficient assessments of genetic diversity in breeding programs and germplasm from gene banks. This research investigated the diversity of pheno-morphological traits, along with the fatty acid and tocopherol content and composition, in 135 double haploid lines of camelina.

Insights of cellular and molecular changes in sugarcane response to oxidative signaling.

BMC Plant Biol

January 2025

Bioinformatics Multidisciplinary Environment, IMD, Universidade Federal Do Rio Grande Do Norte, Natal, Brazil.

Significant changes in the proteome highlight essential metabolic adaptations for development and oxidative signaling induced by the treatment of young sugarcane plants with hydrogen peroxide. These adaptations suggest that hydrogen peroxide acts not only as a stressor but primarily as a signaling molecule, triggering specific metabolic pathways that regulate growth and plant resilience. Sugarcane is a crucial crop for sugar and ethanol production, often influenced by environmental signals.
