Background: Eugene Wolff (1896-1954) and Jonas S. Friedenwald (1897-1955) were life-long students and educators of anatomic pathology and ophthalmology. Both contributed toward narrowing the gap between the two rapidly diverging specialties of pathology and ophthalmology. Friedenwald in 1929 and Wolff in 1934 each published textbooks of ophthalmic pathology that influenced medical education for decades to come.
Summary: Friedenwald's and Wolff's introduced ophthalmologists in training and practice to anatomic pathology, while familiarizing pathologists with the nature of ocular disease. Both books appeared at the time when anatomic pathology was departing from its mostly academic roles in education and research to assume more active participation in clinical care by establishing diagnoses through biopsy.
Key Messages: Wolff and Friedenwald dedicated their careers to teaching the art and science of anatomic pathology to clinical ophthalmologists. Their efforts helped anchor ophthalmology to the traditions of mainstream medicine.

BACKGROUND Studies using transgenic mouse models have demonstrated that estrogen is necessary for the development of cervical cancer, particularly in tissues responsive to estrogen. Estrogen also protects cervical cancer cells from apoptosis, suggesting its role in the survival and persistence of cancer cells. CASE REPORT An 84-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and stage III chronic renal failure was diagnosed with cervical squamous cell carcinoma, FIGO stage IB2.

Purpose: We sought to evaluate the incidence, natural history, and management of cystic spinal lesions following myelomeningocele/myeloschisis closure.
Methods: We performed a single-center retrospective review of all patients who underwent myelomeningocele/myeloschisis closure from 2013 to 2018 with follow-up to 5 years old.
Results: We analyzed 100 fetal repairs and 81 postnatal closures from 305 total surgeries.

Background: The dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) is the primary source of serotonergic projections to supratentorial structures. We and others have shown that it is selectively vulnerable to tau pathology in both human and mouse models of early AD. Although well characterized in mice, the neurochemical anatomy of the human DRN, and in particular the role of Vesicular glutamate transporter-3 (VGLUT3)-expressing neocortical projection neurons in tau pathology, remains unclear.

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to analyze the methylation status in patients who presented with an Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) concomitantly with multifocal Proliferative Verrucous Leukoplakia (PVL)(PVL-OSCC).
Methods: Nine patients with OSCC and concomitant PVL lesions were selected. Two brushing samples were collected simultaneously from OSCC and PVL lesions in contralateral mucosa from each patient.

P53-abnormal endometrial carcinomas are high-grade and aggressive tumors which should be treated with chemo-/radiotherapy. In low-grade endometrioid carcinoma (LGEC), abnormal expression of p53 is an exceptional finding and is typically accompanied by patchy p16 positivity and diffuse hormone receptor expression. Herein, we report a case of LGEC exhibiting both p53 and p16 overexpression, highlighting the diagnostic pitfalls related to such phenotype.
