Tongue-base cysts, which are occasionally categorized as vallecular cysts, are a rare yet potentially life-threatening cause of stridor in pediatric patients. Studies reporting the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to identify tongue-base cysts are lacking. We present the case series of four infants in whom tongue-base cysts were detected using neck POCUS.

Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) in children is in its infancy, and indications have been primarily limited to lingual tonsillar hypertrophy and superficial mucosal lesions. However, the relatively avascular channel of the midline posterior tongue, vallecula, and posterior hyoid space provides a safe plane of dissection for deep lesions of the tongue and access to structures in the anterior neck. As robotic surgeons gain experience, application of this technology will continue to grow.

Background: Ectopic thyroid gland is an uncommon disorder in which thyroid tissue is located along the line of migration, dual ectopic thyroid is a rare entity where parts of the gland are located in two different locations.
Case: A 14-year-old girl presented with dysphagia and odynophagia of six years duration with worsening of two weeks. Physical exam showed tongue base mass.
