In this investigation, we embarked on the synthesis of polyethylene glycol coated NaGdF:Tm/Ybupconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), aiming to assess their utility in enhancing image contrast within the context of swept source optical coherence tomography (OCT) and photo-thermal OCT imaging. Our research unveiled the remarkable UC emissions stemming from the transitions of Tmions, specifically theG→Htransitions, yielding vibrant blue emissions at 472 nm. We delved further into the UC mechanism, meticulously scrutinizing decay times and the nanoparticles' capacity to convert radiation into heat. Notably, these nanoparticles exhibited an impressive photo-thermal conversion efficiency of 37.5%. Furthermore, our investigations into their bio-compatibility revealed a promising outcome, with more than 90% cell survival after 24 h of incubation with HeLa cells treated with UCNPs. The nanoparticles demonstrated a notable thermal sensitivity of 4.7 × 10Kat 300 K, signifying their potential for precise temperature monitoring at the cellular level.

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a potentially life-threatening condition that can occur during the late pregnancy or puerperium. A 31-year-old woman with a recent twin pregnancy presented with heart failure symptoms nine days postpartum. On admission, she had volume overload and hemodynamic compromise, which was rapidly reversed with inotropic levosimendan support.

Objective: To evaluate the ideal anteroposterior position of incisors in lateral smiling profiles with different chin prominences and to relate these positions to nose and chin landmarks based on the perceptions of orthodontists and laypersons.
Methods: A lateral smiling profile image of a female subject was adjusted to create five levels of chin prominence (-6, -3, 0, +3, +6 mm). For each level, the anteroposterior positions of the maxillary incisors were adjusted across five positions (-4, -2, 0, +2, +4 mm).

Objective: This study aimed to compare the accuracy of Qlone, Magiscan, and 3dMD with that of direct anthropometry (DA).
Methods: The study involved 41 patients. Sixteen facial landmarks, including six individual and five paired points, were marked on each participant's face.

Background: To report a case of intraocular inflammation (IOI) after intravitreal injection of aflibercept 8 mg for treatment-refractory neovascular age-related macular degeneration.
Case Presentation: An 80-year-old man with diabetes mellitus had neovascular age-related macular degeneration refractory to treatment with aflibercept 2 mg. Despite ten injections of faricimab, the exudation remained, and we switched to brolucizumab, which resulted in a mild IOI.

Purpose: This study aimed to initially test whether machine learning approaches could categorically predict two simple biological features, mouse age and mouse species, using the retinal segmentation metrics.
Methods: The retinal layer thickness data obtained from C57BL/6 and DBA/2J mice were processed for machine learning after segmenting mouse retinal SD-OCT scans. Twenty-two models were trained to predict the mouse groups.
