Coupling two magnetic anisotropic lanthanide ions via a direct covalent bond is an effective way to realize high magnetization blocking temperature of single-molecule magnets (SMMs) by suppressing quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM), whereas so far only single-electron lanthanide-lanthanide bonds with relatively large bond distances are stabilized in which coupling between lanthanide and the single electron dominates over weak direct 4f-4f coupling. Herein, we report for the first time synthesis of short Dy(II)-Dy(II) single bond (3.61 Å) confined inside a carbon cage in the form of an endohedral metallofullerene Dy@C. Such a direct Dy(II)-Dy(II) covalent bond renders a strong Dy-Dy antiferromagnetic coupling that effectively quenches QTM at zero magnetic field, thus opening up magnetic hysteresis up to 25 K using a field sweep rate of 25 Oe/s, concomitant with a high 100 s magnetization blocking temperature () of 27.2 K.

This study investigated the potential genotoxic and carcinogenic effects of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a hazardous compound found in ranitidine formulations that are used to treat excessive stomach acid. The study first examined the effects of NDMA-contaminated ranitidine formulation on Allium cepa root growth and mitotic activity. The results demonstrated dose-dependent decreases in both root growth and mitotic index indicating genotoxicity and cell division disruption.

Here we covalently constructed abundant long-chain hydroxyl groups-functionalized magnetic microporous organic networks (MMON-2OH) for detection of eight Triazine herbicides (THs) in honey and water samples. MMON-2OH owned a high surface area (287.86 m²/g), enhanced water compatibility, and increased exposure of long-chain hydroxyl groups, which significantly improved enrichment capacity for THs.

Human succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase is a mitochondrial enzyme fundamental in the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid catabolism. It catalyzes the NAD-dependent oxidative degradation of its derivative, succinic semialdehyde, to succinic acid. Mutations in its gene lead to an inherited neurometabolic rare disease, succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency, characterized by mental and developmental delay.

Low-iridium acid-stabilized electrocatalysts for efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) are crucial for the market deployment of proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis. Manipulating the in situ reconstruction of Ir-based catalysts with favorable kinetics is highly desirable but remains elusive. Herein, we propose an atomic ordering strategy to modulate the dynamic surface restructuring of catalysts to break the activity/stability trade-off.

The cross-linking reagent has been proposed as a means of modifying dentin collagen, inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase activities, and enhancing bond durability during dentin bonding procedures. This study aimed to synthesize an operation-friendly dual cross-linking reagent-3-(4-formyphenoxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (FPA)-to assess its ability to cross-link dentin collagen and reduce enzymatic activity at the bonding interface. Cytotoxicity was evaluated by a cell counting kit-8 test and calcein AM/propidium iodide assay.
