It has been demonstrated that the differences observed in the aetiological structure of the individual foci of leptospirosis can be explained not only by the affinity of leptospiral serogroups to certain animal species, but also by different mechanisms of transmission of the causative agent of leptospiral infection which can be transferred both by sexual and alimentary routes (in water). It has been demonstrated that mostly one serotype of leptospires predominates in natural foci of leptospirosis, but several in anthropurgic ones. In the author's opinion, leptospiral infection in natural foci is mainly spread by the sexual route through the background species of animals--carriers of leptospirosis, and by the alimentary route in the anthropurgic foci. It is presumed that leptospires of the serogroups Javanica, Australis, Icterohaemorrhagiae, transmitted by the shrew-mice, hedgehogs and rats by the sexual route, are by their origin "ancient" serogroups of leptospires while the serogroups of leptospires isolated from domestic animals, showing predominantly the alimentary route of transmission of infection in the focus, are representatives of the "younger" forms of the evolutional development of leptospires.

Discoidin domain receptors (DDR) are categorized under tyrosine kinase receptors (RTKs) and play a crucial role in various etiological conditions such as cancer, fibrosis, atherosclerosis, osteoarthritis, and inflammatory diseases. The structural domain rearrangement of DDR1 and DDR2 involved six domains of interest namely N-terminal DS, DS-like, intracellular juxtamembrane, transmembrane juxtamembrane, extracellular juxtamembrane intracellular kinase domain, and the tail portion contains small C-tail linkage. DDR has not been explored to a wide extent to be declared as a prime target for any particular pathological condition.

Recurrent acute pancreatitis (RAP) is a complex syndrome that presents variably, with many cases remaining idiopathic after thorough diagnostics. For evaluating structural etiologies, endoscopic ultrasound and MR cholangiopancreatography are preferred over endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) given their more favorable risk profile and sensitivity. The diagnostic work-up remains paramount since treatment should focus on addressing underlying causes such as early cholecystectomy for gallstone pancreatitis.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition that arises from diverse etiological factors, resulting in structural alterations and functional impairment of the kidneys. We aimed to establish the Anoikis-related gene signature in CKD by bioinformatics analysis.
Methods: We retrieved 3 datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to obtain differentially expressed genes (DEGs), followed by Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) of them, which were intersected with Anoikis-related genes (ARGs) to derive Anoikis-related differentially expressed genes (ARDEGs).

is one of the leading etiological agents of sporotrichosis, a cutaneous and subcutaneous mycosis worldwide distributed. This organism has been recently associated with epidemic outbreaks in Brazil. Despite the medical relevance of this species, little is known about its virulence factors, and most of the information on this subject is extrapolated from .

Visceral leishmaniasis is a systemic disease that affects various internal organs and represents the most severe and fatal form of leishmaniasis. Conventional treatment presents significant challenges, such as prolonged management in hospital settings, high toxicity, and an increasing growing number of cases of resistance. In previous studies, our research group demonstrated the effective and selective activity of the 2-amino-thiophene derivative SB-83 in preclinical models of cutaneous leishmaniasis.
