The double minimum EΣ state in caesium dimer was investigated by analysing spectra of the EΣ← XΣ band system, simplified by polarisation labelling. A total of 6727 rotationally resolved transitions to levels situated in the inner well and above the internal barrier were identified and a potential energy curve allowing to reproduce their energies was constructed using the Fourier grid Hamiltonian and inverted perturbation approach methods. The unambiguity of the potential curve in view of lack of data related to levels located in the outer well is discussed.

Minimum twenty-year follow-up of fixed-vs mobile-bearing total knee arthroplasty: Double blinded randomized trial.

J Clin Orthop Trauma

January 2025

Loyola University Health System, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, 2160 South First Avenue, 60153, Maywood, IL, USA.

Introduction: Mobile-bearing (MB) inserts, designed to minimize aseptic loosening and to reduce contact stresses leading to polyethylene wear, are an alternative to fixed-bearing (FB) inserts. Most studies have shown no significant difference between MB and FB constructs, and there is limited long-term data comparing the two constructs [1,2,3,4]. The purpose of this study was to report the outcomes of a randomized controlled trial comparing MB versus FB inserts on patients with minimum 20-year follow-up.

Thermotolerance screening of genotypes using seed germination assay.

Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, 117 Dorman Hall, Box 9555, Mississippi State University, Mississippi State, MS, 39762, USA.

Temperature is a fundamental factor influencing the processes of seed germination. Investigating the response of carinata to thermal stress and establishing a dependable and efficient method for screening thermotolerance will enhance breeding programs and model applications. We assessed the response of 12 carinata genotypes to a range of eight temperatures, spanning from 8 to 37 °C, throughout the germination process.

Spin and valley polarizations (P and P) and tunneling magnetoresistance (TMR) are demonstrated in the ferromagnetic/barrier/normal/barrier/ferromagnetic WSe junction, with the gate voltage and off-resonant circularly polarized light (CPL) applied to the two barrier regions. The minimum incident energy of non-zero spin- and valley-resolved conductance has been derived, which is consistent with numerical calculations and depends on the electric potential U, CPL intensity ΔΩ, exchange field h, and magnetization configuration: parallel (P) or antiparallel (AP). For the P (AP) configuration, the energy region with P = -1 or P = 1 is wider (narrower) and increases with ΔΩ.

Introduction: This study evaluated the safety and tolerability of fezolinetant in women with vasomotor symptoms (VMS) due to menopause in a pooled analysis of data from three 52-week phase 3 studies (SKYLIGHT 1, 2, and 4).

Methods: SKYLIGHT 1 and 2 were double-blind, placebo-controlled studies where women (≥ 40 to ≤ 65 years), with moderate to severe VMS (minimum average ≥ 7 hot flashes/day) were randomized to once-daily placebo, fezolinetant 30 mg or 45 mg. After 12 weeks, those on placebo were re-randomized to fezolinetant 30 mg or 45 mg, while those on fezolinetant continued on their assigned dose for 40 weeks.

The Site of Protonation Affects the Dissociation of Protonated α- and β-Pinene Ions.

Rapid Commun Mass Spectrom

March 2025

Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Sciences, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada.

Rationale: In electrospray ionization and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization, the protonation site directly guides the ion's dissociation. But what if the site of protonation is ambiguous? In this study, we explored the unimolecular reactions of protonated α- and β-pinene ions with a combination of tandem mass spectrometry and theory. Each has multiple potential protonation sites that influence their chemistry.
