An ultra-high sensitivity weak magnetic field detecting magnetic fluid surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor based on a single-hole fiber (SHF) is proposed for detecting weak magnetic fields. The sensor is constructed with a single-hole fiber in which an exclusive air hole in the cladding is embedded with a metal wire and filled with a magnetic fluid (MF) to enhance the magnetic field sensitivity. The effects of the structural parameters, embedded metals, and refractive index difference between the core and cladding on the magnetic field sensitivity and peak loss are investigated and optimized. The sensitivity, resolution, figure of merit (FOM), and other characteristics of the sensor are analyzed systematically. The numerical results reveal a maximum magnetic field sensitivity of 451,000 pm/mT and FOM of 15.03 mT. The ultra-high magnetic field sensitivity renders the sensor capable of detecting weak magnetic fields at the pT level for the first time, in addition to a detection range from 3.5 mT to 17 mT. The SHF-SPR magnetic field sensor featuring high accuracy, simple structure, and ease of filling has immense potential in applications such as mineral resource exploration as well as geological and environmental assessment.

Background: In arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM), left ventricle-dominant presentation has poorer outcomes than right-dominant presentation, suggesting that interventricular functional disparity might play a role in patients' prognosis. However, the prognostic impact of ventricular functional discordance in ACM patients remains unknown.

Purpose: To assess whether ventricular functional disparity measured as ventricular discordance index, defined as the ratio of right-ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) to left-ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), might reveal prognostic disparities between phenotypes and offer added risk stratification value.

Magnetic-proximity-induced anomalous hall effect at the EuO/SbTeinterface.

Time-reversal symmetry breaking of a topological insulator phase generates zero-field edge modes which are the hallmark of the quantum anomalous Hall effect (QAHE) and of possible value for dissipation-free switching or non-reciprocal microwave devices. But present material systems exhibiting the QAHE, such as magnetically doped bismuth telluride and twisted bilayer graphene, are intrinsically unstable, limiting their scalability. A pristine magnetic oxide at the surface of a TI would leave the TI structure intact and stabilize the TI surface, but epitaxy of an oxide on the lower-melting-point chalcogenide presents a particular challenge.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) face challenges from the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) and slow redox kinetics. In this study, a NiCo-Doped 3D Ordered Mesoporous Carbon (NiCo-3DOMC) composite material is synthesized using a gel-crystalline template and sol-gel method to modify polypropylene separators in LSBs. Density Functional Theory calculations and experiment results demonstrate that under a magnetic field, the NiCo-3DOMC enhances adsorption and catalyzes the conversion of LiPSs, effectively mitigating the shuttle effect and boosting redox kinetics.

Moiré magnetism and moiré excitons in twisted CrSBr bilayers.

Moiré excitons and moiré magnetism are essential to semiconducting van der Waals magnets. In this work, we perform a comprehensive first-principles study to elucidate the interplay of electronic excitation and magnetism in twisted magnetic CrSBr bilayers. We predict a twist-induced quantum phase transition for interlayer magnetic coupling and estimate the critical twist angle below which moiré magnetism with mixed ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic domains could emerge.

Dendritic cells (DCs) play a crucial role in initiating antitumor immune responses. However, in the tumor environment, dendritic cells often exhibit impaired antigen presentation and adopt an immunosuppressive phenotype, which hinders their function and reduces their ability to efficiently present antigens. Here, a dual catalytic oxide nanosponge (DON) doubling as a remotely boosted catalyst and an inducer of programming DCs to program immune therapy is reported.
