The Laser Megajoule (LMJ) is among the most energetic inertial confinement fusion laser facilities in the world, together with the National Ignition Facility (NIF) in the USA. The construction of the facility began back in 2003, and the first photons were emitted by the laser bundle #28 in 2014. Today, 11 laser bundles consisting of 88 large aperture 0.35×0.35 laser beams are in operation, delivering daily up to 330 kJ of energy at the wavelength of 351 nm on a target placed in the center of a 10 m diameter vacuum chamber. In this paper, we describe the laser system and its operational performances. We also detail the first laser campaigns carried out to prepare an increase of energy and power on the target. These campaigns, along with the completion of additional bundles mounting, will bring LMJ performance to 1.3 MJ thanks to 22 bundles in operation.

The use of optogenetic tools offers an excellent method for spatially and temporally regulated gene and protein expression in cell therapeutic approaches. This could be useful as a concomitant therapeutic measure, especially in small body compartments such as the inner ear, for example, during cochlea implantation, to enhance neuronal cell survival and function. Here, we used the blue light activatable CRY2/CIB system to induce transcription of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in human cells.

Chemotherapy is still one of the major approaches in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) treatment. The development of new formulations for classic chemotherapeutic drugs remains interests in studies. Camptothecin (CPT) is powerful antitumor agents in TNBC treatment though its clinic applications are limited by its low water solubility and systemic toxicity.

The cross-linking reagent has been proposed as a means of modifying dentin collagen, inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase activities, and enhancing bond durability during dentin bonding procedures. This study aimed to synthesize an operation-friendly dual cross-linking reagent-3-(4-formyphenoxy)-2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (FPA)-to assess its ability to cross-link dentin collagen and reduce enzymatic activity at the bonding interface. Cytotoxicity was evaluated by a cell counting kit-8 test and calcein AM/propidium iodide assay.

Introduction: This study assessed a new antimicrobial paste formulation containing nitrofurantoin for regenerative endodontics against multispecies biofilms.
Methods: Four groups of 11 single-root teeth each were tested: Negative control group (BHI + microorganisms); Hoshino 1 conventional tri-antibiotic paste group (1:1:1 ratio); Hoshino 5 group (5:5:5 ratio); Experimental group with nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole. Minimum inhibitory concentrations of each antimicrobial were determined.

Objectives: To investigate the effectiveness of different holmium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Ho:YAG) laser modes for lithotripsy in the "dusting era" and identify the optimal laser mode for producing stone fragments measuring ≤0.5 mm.
Methods: We used plaster of Paris-made artificial stones crushed into 2-3 mm pieces, weighing 1 g in total.
